The Commission has now opened applications for its Founding Legal Advisory Council.

The Aston Thomas Integrity Commission is an independent forensic certification institution providing AI provenance due diligence — producing legally defensible, third-party documentation of how AI systems are built, sourced, and governed, for use in litigation, regulatory proceedings, and major transactions. The Legal Advisory Council advises the Commission on how developments in litigation, regulation, and legal practice should inform the evolution of the Provenance & Integrity Standard and ATIC's certification framework.

Specializations Sought

We are seeking attorneys with expertise in one or more of the following domains:

1. Intellectual Property & Copyright Law

Training‑data copyright exposure, fair‑use doctrine, and emerging IP litigation relevant to lawful‑origins governance.

2. Patent Law

AI‑generated invention, model‑architecture protection, and patent considerations in AI development workflows.

3. Data Licensing & Commercial Transactions

Licensing documentation standards, data‑transaction structures, and contractual requirements evaluated in certification.

4. Data Privacy & Rights

GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA, consent frameworks, and cross‑border data governance.

5. Data Breach & Cybersecurity Law

Breach liability, vendor risk, and defensible incident‑response governance for AI systems.

6. Cross‑Border Data Transfer & International Law

SCCs, localization requirements, and global regulatory frameworks governing data movement.

7. Regulatory Compliance & Administrative Law

Agency rulemaking, enforcement trends, and mapping ATIC’s standard to evolving compliance obligations.

8. EU AI Act & International AI Regulation

Conformity assessment, regulatory implementation, and alignment between ATIC’s framework and global AI governance.

9. Corporate Governance & Fiduciary Duty

Board‑level AI oversight, fiduciary obligations, and defensible governance practices supported by certification.

10. Mergers, Acquisitions & Transaction Law

AI asset due diligence, representations and warranties, and integration of provenance assessments into M&A practice.

11. Healthcare & Medical Device Law

FDA frameworks, clinical AI liability, and governance requirements for healthcare‑sector AI systems.

12. Financial Services & Securities Regulation

OCC, CFPB, SEC, and FINRA expectations for AI systems, model‑risk governance, and regulated‑sector

compliance.

13. AI Ethics, Accountability & Public‑Interest Law

Civil rights implications, accountability frameworks, and public‑benefit dimensions of AI governance.

14. Litigation & Forensic Evidence

Evidentiary standards, expert‑witness considerations, and defensibility of certification outputs under adversarial review.

What We Seek

Ideal candidates bring:

  • 10+ years of active legal practice experience in their specialization
  • Familiarity with AI’s intersection with their legal domain
  • Strong judgment and interest in public‑benefit governance
  • Experience in private practice, in‑house roles, academia, or public service
