What We Want
The Center for Teaching Excellence (CTE) is seeking a creative, collaborative, and detail-oriented Communications Specialist II who is passionate about advancing teaching excellence through strategic communication, digital engagement, program coordination, and exceptional customer service. This position plays an essential role in supporting faculty development programs while enhancing the visibility, accessibility, and impact of the Center's services across Texas A&M University.
The ideal candidate is an excellent storyteller who enjoys transforming ideas, programs, and data into engaging print and digital communications that inform, inspire, and connect audiences. We are looking for someone who thrives in a dynamic environment, manages multiple priorities, and approaches projects with creativity, initiative, and attention to detail.
Successful candidates will have experience developing compelling written and visual content for websites, email campaigns, newsletters, social media, and promotional materials while ensuring consistency with university branding, accessibility, and communication standards. They will also be comfortable coordinating projects, using analytics and assessment data to evaluate communication effectiveness, strengthen engagement, and support continuous improvement.
The preferred candidate enjoys collaborating with faculty, staff, student employees, and campus partners to coordinate programs, events, outreach initiatives, and communication campaigns. Salary: $56,000 - 60,000/annually (Based on selected hire’s qualifications)

Essential Duties/Tasks
Content Creation and Production
Develops, writes, edits, and produces a wide range of communication materials, including brochures, newsletters, invitations, reports, presentations, scripts, and promotional content.
Drafts and coordinates distribution of news releases and internal communications in collaboration with stakeholders.
Designs and produces graphic materials in compliance with Texas A&M brand standards.
Develops and maintains templates for email campaigns, social media, and web communications to ensure consistency and efficiency.
Manages and organizes digital asset libraries to support communication efforts.
Produces multimedia content, including photography, video, and graphics, to enhance storytelling and audience engagement.
Program and Project Coordination, Support, and Evaluation
Coordinates logistics and communication efforts for workshops, programs, and events, including scheduling, venue arrangements, and participant outreach.
Supports project management activities by tracking timelines, deliverables, and progress toward goals.
Maintains databases related to programs, workshops, and participant engagement.
Collects, analyzes, and reports data on program participation, communication effectiveness, and digital engagement metrics.
Prepares recurring and ad hoc reports to support leadership decision-making and continuous improvement.
Assists in the design and implementation of program and communication assessments.
Contributes to the development and execution of communication plans aligned with departmental and institutional goals.
Publishes and maintains content across websites and communication platforms.
Coordinates outreach initiatives and evaluates engagement outcomes to inform future strategies.
Ensures compliance with university branding standards, communication policies, and accessibility requirements.
Provides functional supervision of student employees, including hiring support, training, task assignment, and performance feedback.
Digital Communications and Social Media
Develops, writes, and manages content for social media platforms to promote programs, services, and initiatives.
Monitors and engages with audiences across digital channels to enhance visibility and interaction.
Assists in implementing social media and digital communication strategies informed by analytics and best practices.
Creates digital content, including graphics, video, and photography, to support communication campaigns.
Updates and maintains website content and participates in web development and improvement projects.
Applies emerging trends, tools, and best practices in digital communications and analytics.
Ensures accessibility, usability, and consistency across digital and print materials.
Professional Development and Additional Duties
Maintains and implements a professional development plan to enhance job knowledge and skills.
Participates in workshops, conferences, and training opportunities.

Qualifications
Required Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, journalism, or related field, or equivalent combination of education.
Two years of related experience in communications, marketing, or public relations.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in higher education or academic communications. Familiarity with accessibility standards (e.g., WCAG).
Experience with email marketing platforms and analytics tools.
Experience supervising or coordinating student employees.
Experience using content management systems, digital communication tools, and design platforms (e.g., Cascade, Articulate 360, Venngage, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar technologies).
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Strong written, editing, and verbal communication skills with the ability to tailor messaging to varying audiences.
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Project management, organizational, and time management skills with the ability to work independently under minimal supervision.
Critical thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make timely and effective decisions.
Ability to analyze data, interpret metrics, and prepare reports to inform communication strategies and decision-making.
Proficiency in developing and managing content across social media platforms (i.e., Instagram, LinkedIn, etc.), with knowledge of emerging trends and best practices.
Proven ability to create engaging digital content, including graphics, video, and written materials, tailored for social media and web platforms.
Proven ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders (i.e., faculty, staff, students, or external partners), and provide responsive, customer-focused support.
Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills, with the ability to build partnerships and work cooperatively across departments, schools, and colleges.
Ability to work professionally and effectively in a service-oriented environment.
Ability to ensure accuracy, consistency, and adherence to Texas A&M branding, style, and accessibility standards.
