Engineer 2 – Telecom (Contract)

Hybrid (Burnaby, BC)

12-month contract (likely extension)

Overview

We are seeking an Intermediate Telecom Engineer to support the design and delivery of high-performance telecommunications networks. This role will contribute to critical infrastructure supporting real-time operations, connectivity, and system reliability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support design of telecom networks and circuits (fiber, microwave, IP/MPLS, LTE, etc.)
  • Assist with drawings, material planning, and telecom infrastructure deployment
  • Collaborate with project and construction teams to meet timelines and resolve field issues
  • Support installation, testing, and commissioning activities
  • Participate in site visits and provide technical support for field implementation
  • Ensure compliance with engineering standards and best practices

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Computer Engineering, or related field
  • 2+ years of telecom engineering experience
  • Experience with telecom technologies such as:
  • Fiber optics (DWDM/OTN), microwave, LTE, IP/MPLS
  • Radio systems (VHF/UHF, satellite, WiMAX)
  • SONET/TDM systems and teleprotection
  • Knowledge of IP/MPLS (BGP, OSPF, QoS, VPNs, etc.)
  • Experience with Nokia IP/MPLS platforms is an asset

Additional Skills

  • Strong communication and technical documentation skills
  • Understanding of project and construction processes
  • Familiarity with CAD tools and design software
  • Eligible for EIT registration
  • Valid driver’s license (for site visits)
