Job description
This position is 3 days per week remote / work from home.
Salary: $140,000 - 180,000/year
We are seeking a talented and driven Senior Electrical Engineer to lead the architecture, design, and implementation of our next-generation hardware platforms. In this role, you will bridge the gap between physical hardware and low-level firmware, taking products from initial concept through schematic capture, high-speed PCB layout, and rigorous EMI/EMC compliance testing. If you love routing dense boards, debugging microcontrollers with an oscilloscope, and solving complex noise issues, we want you on our team.
Key Responsibilities
- Architect robust embedded systems utilizing 32-bit microcontrollers (e.g., ARM Cortex-M), FPGAs, or SoCs.
- Design analog and digital circuits, including power management (Buck/Boost regulators), sensor interfaces, and high-speed communication buses (SPI, I2C, UART, USB, PCIe).
- Conduct component selection, considering cost, availability, power consumption, and thermal performance.
- Lead multi-layer PCB design (typically 4 to 8+ layers) using industry-standard tools (Altium Designer, Eagle, or OrCAD/Allegro).
- Implement best-practice layout strategies for signal integrity, power integrity, and thermal management.
- Manage library components, footprint creation, and generate complete manufacturing packages (Gerber, ODB++, BOM, Pick-and-Place files).
- Design boards upfront for EMI/EMC compliance (FCC, CE, CISPR) using proper grounding, shielding, and filtering techniques.
- Diagnose, debug, and resolve electromagnetic interference and susceptibility issues during prototyping.
- Coordinate with external test labs to shepherd products through formal regulatory certification.
- Perform hands-on board bring-up, debugging, and verification using lab equipment (oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, logic analyzers).
- Collaborate closely with Firmware/Embedded Software Engineers to validate hardware-software interfaces.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Experience: 5+ years of proven experience in hardware development and embedded system design.
- PCB Design Mastery: Deep expertise in schematic capture and PCB layout software (Altium Designer strongly preferred).
- Hardware Knowledge: Strong background in power supply design, mixed-signal circuits, and low-power optimization.
- Compliance Track Record: Direct experience preparing hardware for and passing EMI/EMC testing.
