The Sr Manager, Sports Sponsorships will build and lead the PR strategy—and team—supporting T-Mobile’s sports sponsorships and partnership portfolio. This means building campaigns that breakthrough in earned media, going deep as the subject matter expert, collaborating closely with marketing and business stakeholders, external business and agency partners, developing and executing programs. As a trusted advisor to business leaders, this role translates business priorities into compelling stories that advance T-Mobile's differentiated narrative with a broad range of media.  

The ideal candidate will be a motivated self-starter who can collaborate or work independently and will bring (and execute!) bold, break-through ideas.

** This is a hybrid role, requiring 3 days week in the office. This position may be located in Bellevue, WA **

Job Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with marketing and internal partners, advise executives and leadership
  • Manage the team leading PR for T-Mobile’s sports sponsorships portfolio, including budget, agency resources and employee development
  • Develop thoughtful, tailored media plans, dream up and sell in unique story concepts and attention-getting moments and activations with leadership
  • Land coverage in broadcast, print and online outlets
  • Lean into data and insights, drive news and stories, create programs that reach new audiences
  • Partner with creators, talent to drive earned media
  • Develop and manage reporter relationships and tackle problems
  • Work closely with T-Mobile’s external sports sponsorships teams and their PR leads to collaborate on planning, dream up new ideas and create an impact
  • Pinch hit on a wide variety of projects for the team and in lock-step with our agency resources
  • Also responsible for other duties/projects as assigned by business management as needed

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree and 7 years of related work experience OR a combination of education and experience deemed equivalent; acceptable areas of study include Communications, Journalism, English, PR or related field

  • 10+ years' experience in communications and media strategy at a PR/marketing agency or fast-paced corporate comms/PR team, including managing a team

  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written

  • In-depth knowledge of what makes news and how to manufacture coverage without hard news

  • Ability to partner across the company and with different teams

  • Strong writing and editing skills

  • Experience creating super creative campaigns the breakthrough with mainstream media

  • At least 18 years of age

  • Legally authorized to work in the United States

Base Pay Range: $115,100 - $207,600

Corporate Bonus Target: 20%

The pay range above is the general base pay range for a successful candidate in the role. The successful candidate’s actual pay will be based on various factors, such as work location, qualifications, and experience, so the actual starting pay will vary within this range.

At T-Mobile, employees in regular, non-temporary roles are eligible for an annual bonus or periodic sales incentive or bonus, based on their role. Most Corporate employees are eligible for a year-end bonus based on company and/or individual performance and which is set at a percentage of the employee’s eligible earnings in the prior year. Certain positions in Customer Care are eligible for monthly bonuses based on individual and/or team performance.
