Our challenge

We are seeking a highly skilled AI Engineer with deep expertise in Generative AI, neural networks, and transfer learning to support and lead the development of our strategic data analytics platform. The successful candidate will spearhead the design and deployment of advanced machine learning models, including zero-shot/few-shot learning and retrieval-augmented generation (RAG). This role involves collaboration across teams to embed AI capabilities into our core tools and workflows, driving innovation in capital markets use cases.

Additional Information*

The base salary for this position will vary based on geography and other factors. In accordance with law, the base salary for this role if filled within Toronto, ON is CAD $110k – CAD $125k/year & benefits (see below).

The Role

Responsibilities

• Develop agentic frameworks tailored for capital markets applications, focusing on summarization, conversational AI, and information extraction.
• Integrate Generative AI tools and frameworks into existing Capital Markets tools for personas such as Research, Banking, Sales, and Trading.
• Lead the design, development, and optimization of state-of-the-art ML models, including architectures involving zero-shot and few-shot learning.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to embed AI solutions seamlessly into business tools and workflows.
• Conduct code reviews, establish best practices, and guide the team on the deployment and operationalization of AI models.
• Drive innovation by researching and implementing the latest advancements in neural networks, transfer learning, and retrieval-augmented generation.
• Manage AI experimentations, model evaluations, and monitoring to ensure robust and scalable AI solutions.

Requirements

• PhD or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Deep Learning, or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of proven experience building and deploying Deep Learning or Machine Learning models.
• Deep understanding of Machine Learning, Deep Learning, and Generative AI techniques.
• Demonstrated ability to lead the development of Generative AI solutions and guide team members through best practices, code reviews, and technical mentorship.
• Strong expertise in NLP, information extraction, embeddings, re-rankers, and agentic frameworks.
• Solid knowledge of model architecture design, inferencing, fine-tuning, and transfer learning.
• Hands-on experience with end-to-end AI operations, including experimentation, model evaluation, deployment, and monitoring.
• In-depth knowledge of algorithms, data structures, and distributed computing environments.

Preferred, but not required:

• Prior experience in banking or financial services is highly preferred.
• Capable of managing & leading people and delivery.
