Overview
Summer Set Construction is hiring a hands-on Team Lead / Foreman to lead residential renovation and addition projects. This is a working leadership role — you must be highly competent in framing and capable of carrying projects through to drywall and finish stages.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage crew on-site daily
- Perform and oversee framing (required), drywall, and finish carpentry
- Read and execute drawings and plans accurately
- Maintain timelines, quality control, and site organization
- Coordinate materials and workflow
- Ensure work meets Ontario Building Code and company standards
- Identify and resolve issues efficiently
- Maintain a clean, safe, and professional job site
- Oversee the installation of concrete forms, rebar, siding, roofing, flooring, tile laying, and cabinetry as per specifications
- Manage the use of hand tools, power tools, CNC machinery, and other equipment to complete tasks efficiently
- Conduct quality inspections throughout the project lifecycle to maintain high standards of craftsmanship
- Estimate project timelines and materials needs; assist with construction estimating when necessary
- Provide mentorship and training to team members in specialized skills such as woodworking, masonry, plumbing, electrical work, and caulking
- Coordinate with clients and subcontractors to facilitate smooth project flow and resolve issues promptly
Requirements (Non-Negotiable):
- Strong framing experience (must be fully competent)
- Ability to complete drywall and finish work to a high standard
- Minimum 2 years leadership/foreman experience
- High attention to detail and quality workmanship
- Organized, reliable, and accountable
- Own tools required to perform duties
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
- Ability to work independently and lead a crew effectively
Skills
- Extensive experience in construction trades including carpentry, siding, plumbing, some work, and restoration
- Proficiency in blueprint reading, schematics interpretation, and construction estimating
- Skilled in operating hand tools, power tools, and heavy equipment as asset for various tasks
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently on demanding projects
- Excellent leadership abilities with experience managing a small construction team and coordinating multiple trades
- Good communication skills for collaborating with clients, subcontractors, and team members
- Knowledge of safety standards related to construction painting, caulking, flooring installation, tile laying, woodworking, and general site management
- Handyman experience is a plus for versatile project support

Pay: $30.00-$35.00 per hour
