Linux Systems Engineer – Edge Computing

We are looking for a Linux Systems Engineer to design and optimize Linux-based systems powering modern edge computing environments. This is a hands-on engineering role focused on building custom operating system images, improving system performance, and ensuring reliable deployment across distributed edge devices.

You will work closely with hardware and platform teams to develop secure, high-performance Linux systems designed to operate in resource-constrained, real-world environments.

What You’ll Do

• Design and build custom Linux base OS images using tools such as Kairos and Yocto for edge devices
• Configure, optimize, and secure Linux systems operating across distributed edge networks
• Work closely with hardware engineers to ensure seamless OS and device integration
• Automate system configuration and deployment using shell scripting and CI/CD pipelines
• Optimize systems for low-latency, high-reliability performance in edge environments
• Implement and maintain security best practices, including patching and vulnerability management
• Conduct code and configuration reviews and support engineering teams with technical guidance
• Create and maintain system architecture documentation and operational procedures

What We’re Looking For

• 5+ years of experience in Linux systems engineering or administration
• Strong knowledge of Linux internals, networking, and performance tuning
• Hands-on experience building custom OS images using Yocto and/or Kairos
• Experience with shell scripting, system automation, and build pipelines
• Familiarity with CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins)
• Experience with container technologies such as Docker or Kubernetes
• Strong understanding of security practices for Linux environments

Nice to Have

• Experience working in edge computing or distributed systems environments
• Experience with cross-compilation, package management, and embedded Linux systems
