Main Purpose of Job
Spring Grove Hospital Center is the largest psychiatric hospital operated by the State of Maryland, with 377 beds. This recruitment is for multiple full-time Registered Nurse, Court-Involved positions. Each position is responsible for working at the full performance level, providing direct nursing care on a psychiatric ward with the responsibility for the general nursing care of all psychiatric patients on an assigned ward. These positions may relieve as a charge nurse for the unit in the absence of the charge nurse, supervising and guiding subordinate staff. The positions receive general supervision from a Registered Nurse Supervisor or higher-level staff.
The positions are considered Emergency Essential and are required to work two weekends in a 28 day schedule; half of all holidays; during inclement weather; and, rotate to other shifts, as needed, to provide unit staffing coverage. This recruitment is for multiple positions that will work on a rotating schedule: Day 7am - 3:30pm, Evening 3:00pm - 11:30pm or Night 11:15pm - 7:15am.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Determined by the Maryland State Board of Nursing under the licensing requirements for Registered Nurses.
Experience: None.
LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS
1. Candidates for positions in this classification must possess a current license as a Registered Nurse from the Maryland State Board of Nursing, 4140 Patterson Avenue, Baltimore, Maryland 21215 or possess a current multi-state license in party states that candidates have declared as primary states of residence.
2. Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.
3. Employees in this classification may be required to successfully complete and maintain current certification of cardiopulmonary resuscitation training.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
1. Employees in this classification are subject to call-in and, therefore, will be required to provide the facility with a phone number at which they can be reached.
2. Employees in this classification are subject to substance abuse testing in accordance with Code of Maryland Regulations 17.04.09, Testing for Illegal Use of Drugs.
