Front-End Software Engineer - HTML5 / CSS3

Location: Washington, DC

Position Type: Contract

Rate: Market/DOE (W2/1099)

Responsibilities

Analyze application requirements and provide recommended technical design solutions that are efficient, scalable, maintainable and accurately meet the needs of the business. Participate in the visual design process, advising on how front end technologies can be applied to potential product designs. Participate in resolving challenging and demanding problems within the production environment. Ensure SLA metrics (performance, availability, usage, and security) are met and tracked. Assist with customer inquiries and resolution of problems. Research and make recommendations on software tools, new approaches and new technologies. Strong desire to learn by prototyping and experiment with new technologies. Willingness to investigate and troubleshoot a variety of technical issues across different technologies and platforms.

Required Skills

5-7+ years of Web Development experience. Expertise in CSS3, HTML5 and Ajax. Strong JavaScript and JQuery experience (Angular.js or Knockout.js would be a plus). Must have experience with JSP and JSTL. Experience working with Responsive and Adaptive designs for differing device capabilities is preferred. Knowledge of best practices for building high volume dynamic web sites. Foundational understanding of servlets and J2EE concepts is a plus. Any experience with Scala is a plus. Any digital media or publishing industry experience is a plus. College degree in Computer Science or related technical field is required skills.
