Position: Full-Time Secondary Counsellor Position

Location: Merritt

MERRITT SECONDARY SCHOOL seeks a full-time Secondary Counsellor starting September 1, 2026. Candidates with a Master's Degree in Counselling and expertise in BC Secondary curricula are encouraged to apply.

This continuing position demands a background in counselling and experience in fostering social-emotional learning among students. Successful candidates will collaborate with School-Based Teams to provide integrated services. Strong interpersonal and conflict resolution skills are essential for both individual and group counselling efforts.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide individual and group counselling services to students
• Support school staff in implementing inclusive education programs
• Work with School-Based Teams for integrated student services
• Address social-emotional needs of students effectively
• Maintain positive relationships with students, staff, and parents

Requirements

• Master’s Degree in Counselling
• Valid BC Teaching Certificate
• Knowledge of BC Secondary curricula
• Experience with diverse student needs
• Training with Indigenous student support preferred
