Job Title: SQL Database Administrator (SQL DBA)

Location: Richmond, VA (Hybrid – 2–3 Days Onsite/Week)

Key Responsibilities

Administer, maintain, and support Microsoft SQL Server databases across development, test, and production environments.
Monitor database health, performance, availability, and capacity.
Perform SQL Server installation, upgrades, patching, and configuration.
Manage database backup, recovery, High Availability (HA), and Disaster Recovery (DR) solutions.
Support migration of on-premises SQL Server databases to Microsoft Azure.
Assess existing database environments and recommend migration strategies.
Optimize SQL queries, indexes, stored procedures, and overall database performance.
Implement database security, user access controls, and compliance best practices.
Collaborate with cloud engineers, application developers, infrastructure, and security teams.
Create operational documentation, migration runbooks, and database standards.
Support production deployments, troubleshooting, and change management activities.

Required Skills

6+ years of SQL Server Database Administration experience.
Strong Microsoft SQL Server administration expertise.
Experience migrating SQL Server workloads to Microsoft Azure.
Azure SQL Database, Azure SQL Managed Instance, Azure Virtual Machines.
Database performance tuning and optimization.
Backup, Restore, High Availability (HA), and Disaster Recovery (DR).
Database security administration and compliance.
