Job description

Team Summary

Our Video Streaming team develops core streaming functionality for embedded IoT gateways and smart camera platforms – systems designed to receive streams from multiple connected devices, manage secure local storage, and deliver low-latency live views and playback to client applications. We work with modern C++, building and scaling the media pipeline, handling stream ingestion, local recording, and protocol support (RTSP, ONVIF, WebRTC). You will join a focused, high-caliber team consisting of a Tech Lead and a Core Engineer working closely together in a cross-location setup, with English as our primary language of communication.

Job Summary

As a core Engineer on the streaming team, you will collaborate closely with the Tech Lead to architect and implement core components of the platform's media pipeline, from multi-camera stream ingestion to intelligent local recording and secure cloud delivery. You will take full ownership of your technical domain, drive architectural decisions, and write high-performance C++ code on embedded Linux. This role is ideal for someone looking for high impact and autonomy in a lean team, eager to tackle real-time media and networking challenges on constrained hardware.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Design and implement high-performance, embedded video streaming solutions in C++ for commercial smart camera and IoT deployment solutions.
  • Develop and maintain robust media pipeline components: multi-camera ingestion, local recording rotation logic, storage management, and video delivery.
  • Integrate and support industry-standard streaming protocols (RTSP, WebRTC, ONVIF) for both first-party PoE cameras and third-party devices.
  • Optimize real-time media processing on resource-constrained embedded Linux hardware to ensure low latency, high throughput, and concurrency across multiple simultaneous high-bitrate streams.
  • Investigate and resolve streaming quality issues through the analysis of device metrics, logs, and network conditions.
  • Collaborate with App, Firmware, and AI teams to define streaming interfaces and ensure seamless end-to-end data flows.
  • Participate actively in Agile processes, including sprint planning, comprehensive code reviews, and architectural discussions.
  • Write and maintain clear technical documentation for designed and implemented solutions.

Qualifications and Skills

  • 5+ years of commercial experience in embedded systems development.
  • Deep proficiency in С++ and C.
  • Solid practical experience with UDP/TCP-based communication and networking systems.
  • Hands-on experience with RTP/RTCP streaming applications and widely used media frameworks (e.g., GStreamer).
  • Experience developing and supporting applications for Linux-based (user space) embedded systems and/or RTOS.
  • Strong understanding of video and audio encoding technologies, memory management, and memory layout principles.
  • Good knowledge of the TCP/IP stack and Wireless Local Area Networks (WLAN).
  • Basic understanding of embedded system security and data encryption principles.
  • Strong alignment with modern Software Development Principles and full lifecycle development cycles.
  • Familiarity with development tools: Jira, Confluence, Git, Docker, VS Code / Cursor.
  • At least an Upper-Intermediate level in both written and spoken English (B2).

Nice to have

  • Practical experience with media codecs such as H.264, HEVC, AV1, and OPUS.
  • Hands-on experience with WebRTC, FFmpeg, and the MP4 container format.
  • Knowledge of camera hardware features and image processing.
  • Experience with multi-core and multi-chip system architectures.
  • Strong understanding of SOLID, Clean Code principles, and UML.
  • Experience leveraging AI tools (Cursor, Copilot, etc.) to optimize the development workflow.

We offer multiple benefits that include

  • The environment of equal opportunities, transparent and value-based corporate culture, and an individual approach to each team member
  • Competitive compensation and perks
  • Opportunity to receive a Performance Bonus for your individual achievements and a Loyalty Bonus recognizing your dedication to the company
  • Gig-contract
  • 21 paid vacation days per year, paid public holidays according to Ukrainian legislation
  • Development opportunities like corporate courses, knowledge hubs, and free English classes as well as educational leaves
  • Medical insurance is provided from day one. Sick leaves and medical leaves are available
  • Remote working mode is available within Ukraine only
  • Free meals, fruits, and snacks when working in the office.
