<p><strong>About the role</strong></p>
<p>We are looking for a dynamic, results-driven Media Sales Executive to join our commercial team in Cape Town ahead of a major upcoming sports tournament. This is a dual-function role that combines advertising and broadcast commercial sales with subscription package marketing, offering an exceptional opportunity to work at the intersection of sports, media, and business development.</p>
<p>The successful candidate will be responsible for driving revenue through the sale of on-air commercial slots, broadcast advertising, and digital media placements, while simultaneously developing and executing strategies to grow our subscriber base for tournament coverage packages.</p>
<p><strong>What you'll be doing</strong></p>
<p>Commercial Advertising Sales</p>
<ul>
<li>Sell advertising slots tied to tournament broadcast coverage</li>
<li>Identify, approach, and convert prospective advertisers, sponsors, and brand partners</li>
<li>Develop bespoke advertising packages and proposals tailored to client objectives and budgets</li>
<li>Manage the full sales cycle from prospecting through to contract signature and fulfilment</li>
<li>Collaborate with production and scheduling teams to ensure delivery of sold commercial inventory</li>
<li>Maintain an active pipeline and consistently meet or exceed project, monthly and quarterly revenue targets</li>
</ul>
<p>Subscription Package Sales & Marketing</p>
<ul>
<li>Design, promote, and sell subscription packages providing access to live and on-demand tournament content</li>
<li>Build go-to-market strategies for subscriber acquisition, including digital campaigns, partnerships, and direct outreach</li>
<li>Manage relationships with existing subscribers and develop retention strategies to minimise churn</li>
<li>Work closely with the marketing team to create compelling messaging, collateral, and campaigns for subscriber growth</li>
<li>Track and analyse subscription KPIs, providing regular reporting to senior management</li>
<li>Identify and develop B2B subscription opportunities with hospitality, sports bars, corporates, and fan club</li>
</ul>
<p>Relationship Management & Business Development</p>
<ul>
<li>Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with media agencies, brands, and industry stakeholders</li>
<li>Represent the organisation at industry events, networking functions, and tournament-related engagements</li>
<li>Collaborate cross-functionally with editorial, marketing, digital, and broadcast operations teams</li>
<li>Stay current on market trends, competitor activity, and emerging advertising formats in the sports media landscape</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>What you'll bring</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Minimum 3 years of proven experience in media sales, with a strong track record of hitting revenue targets</li>
<li>Demonstrated ability to sell advertising or sponsorship within a broadcast and/or digital media environment</li>
<li>Strong commercial acumen with experience structuring, negotiating, and closing complex deals</li>
<li>Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English</li>
<li>Self-motivated, target-driven, and highly organised with the ability to manage multiple accounts simultaneously</li>
<li>Proficiency with CRM tools and Microsoft Office / Google Suite</li>
<li>Valid driver's licence and willingness to travel within South Africa as required</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>Even better if</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Experience in sports media sales — including broadcast rights, sports sponsorships, or stadium/event advertising</li>
<li>Familiarity with subscription-based or OTT (over-the-top) platform sales and marketing</li>
<li>Existing network within the South African media, agency, or sports industry</li>
<li>Understanding of digital advertising ecosystems including programmatic, social, and video advertising</li>
<li>Relevant tertiary qualification in Marketing, Business, Communications, or a related field</li>
