title:Light Industrial - Journeyman Electrician location:VA_AMD_14225 Newbrook Dr, Chantilly VA 20151 duration:3+ months shift: 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM - on-call for 24/7 coverage in the building Is this a hospital site that requires additional credentialing?: No Additional Job Details: Need critical site experience with specialized skills in boilers, chillers, HVAC, Refrigeration, electrical, etc. as outlined in the job descriptions. Responsibilities Perform installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical systems, equipment, and components throughout the laboratory facility. Evaluate electrical systems to ensure they meet the specific needs of sensitive and specialized medical equipment. Run new circuits, test, and commission systems to support ongoing operations and equipment upgrades. Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, wiring diagrams, and equipment specifications to determine proper design, installation, and configuration. Ensure appropriate wire gauge, grounding, and protective devices are selected and installed in compliance with NEC and Virginia state electrical codes. Conduct routine testing, inspections, and preventive maintenance of electrical infrastructure to ensure continuous operation in a 24/7 environment. Respond promptly to electrical emergencies and service requests, minimizing downtime in this critical facility. Document work performed, including materials used, test results, and compliance checks. Collaborate with facilities, engineering, and laboratory staff to support projects and ensure minimal disruption to lab operations. Able to respond to after hours emergency calls when necessary and provide guidance to on-site staff when needed. Qualifications Active Journeyman Electrician License in the state of Virginia (required). Minimum of 4+ years of commercial/industrial electrical experience, preferably in critical environments (medical, hospital, lab, or data center). Strong knowledge of NEC, Virginia electrical codes, and safety regulations. Proven ability to read and interpret electrical blueprints, schematics, and technical specifications. Experience running conduit, pulling wire, terminating panels, and installing distribution equipment. Familiarity with emergency power systems, UPS, and generator-backed facilities (preferred). Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a high-pressure, fast-paced, mission-critical environment. Strong problem-solving, troubleshooting, and communication skills. Willingness to work flexible hours, participate in on-call rotations, and respond to urgent facility needs. Required: High School Diploma or GED – minimum requirement. Completion of a State-Approved Electrical Apprenticeship Program (usually 4–5 years, ~8,000 hours of on-the-job training plus classroom instruction). Journeyman Electrician License issued by the state (requires passing the licensing exam). Continuing Education – most states require ongoing courses to maintain licensure, especially on electrical code updates (e.g., NEC revisions). Active Journeyman Electrician License in the state of Virginia (required). Preferred: Minimum of 4+ years of commercial/industrial electrical experience, preferably in critical environments (medical, hospital, lab, or data center) Associate degree or vocational/technical school certificate in electrical technology, construction, or related field.
