Job description
The Manager of Operations & Analytics role requires excellent analytical skills, operational skills, and a great people leader. Most importantly, this position is about empowering and developing our team members to deliver our expected KPIs. The goal is to safeguard and augment the efficiency of the company’s operations and financial metrics to facilitate accelerating development and long-term success.
For the first 12 months, you will lead our Operations team while providing maternity leave coverage, overseeing day-to-day operations, team performance, and operational excellence.
Following the maternity leave, the role will transition into a dedicated Analytics position, where you will focus on business reporting, data analysis, performance metrics, and strategic insights to support business growth and decision-making.
This is a unique opportunity for someone who enjoys both operational leadership and data-driven problem solving, with a long-term career path in analytics.
This is a full-time permanent position, with the Operations Management responsibilities being temporary for the first 12 months.
Key Responsibilities
- Attend and manage relationships with key internal and external partners to ensure alignment and collaboration
- Implement and establish policies and procedures; measure outcomes against standards and continuously identify opportunities for process improvement
- Coordinate internal and external resources, cultivating strong partnerships with Call Center Sales, Accounting and Customer Service teams
- Oversee day-to-day interactions and manage expectations across all Operations teams, ensuring service standards and KPIs are consistently met
- Communicate effectively at all levels of the organization, including frontline teams, cross-departmental leaders, and executive management
- Lead, train, coach, develop, and motivate all direct reports, fostering a culture of accountability, growth, and collaboration
- Manage three operational teams; including New Business, Admin and Claims which are the core of life insurance administration responsibilities of the company
- Directly responsible for building the apps, macros, and scripts used by team members to improve productivity
Qualifications
Education & Experience:
- 5+ years of experience in financial operations, analytics or a related field, with at least 2 years in a leadership or managerial role
- Minimum bachelor’s degree education with curricula that include mathematics, computer science, statistic, actuarial science or equivalent
- Experience working in Canadian life insurance industry
- High proficiency with analytical tools, including Alteryx, SQL, Python or equivalent
- Proven track record of leading and developing high-performing teams
- Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and relationship management skills
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities
- Ability to drive change and implement process improvements across departments
- Experience coordinating cross-functional projects and working with diverse stakeholders
