Senior Power BI Developer

Software Methods is seeking a Senior Power BI Developer, for a six month contract opportunity, to assist our client in their Chadds Ford, PA facility. The ideal candidate will have one to two years’ experience in a corporate pharmaceutical or life science setting.

Responsibilities

• Build complex dimensional data models and reports from the bottom up
• Audit existing Power BI efforts with focus on improvement
• Collaborate with client’s data team to engineer revolutionary companywide data solutions
• Create Ad Hoc and Enterprise Power BI Solutions
• Automation of existing reports’ data flows, publishing, and push reporting
• Provide guidance to team members and establish the Power BI Center of Excellence.

Required Experience:

• 7+ years working experience with data in Power BI Desktop and Power BI Service
• Intermediate or better proficiency in DAX
• Solid understanding of relational databases and ETL concepts - experience with Azure Data Factories, Databricks or Synapse Analytics preferred
• Working knowledge of Power Query
• Experience in row-level data security and report permissions/roles
• Proficiency in optimizing data models for performance
• Solid understanding of dimensional modeling concepts
• Microsoft Azure, Power BI Embedded, and/or prior consulting experience preferred
• Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences
• Ability to work autonomously as well as part of a team
• Strong problem solving and analytical abilities
• Exceptional work ethic, judgment, business acumen, attention to detail, analytical skills, and problem-solving skills with the ability to make informed decisions
• Results-driven and thrives in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to impact company culture and meaningfully shape the vision of our company
• PowerApps and/or LogicApps and Power BI embedded experience preferred but not required.

Preferred Experience:

• 1+ year of experience working with pharmaceutical datasets.
• 5+ years data visualization experience (Tableau, Microstrategy, Qlik, etc.)
