SEO Specialist - Part-Time Contractor (Growth Track)
SocialSellinatorJob Description
About SocialSellinator
SocialSellinator is a Silicon Valley-based B2B digital marketing agency serving startups, SMBs, and mid-market companies nationwide. We deliver measurable organic growth through SEO, content strategy, and AI search optimization for clients in tech, staffing, cybersecurity, and more.
This role is focused on SEO. We are not looking for a generalist. We are looking for someone who is very good at organic search and AI search visibility.
What This Role Is
This is a part-time contractor position (1099), starting at 20 hours per week with a clear path to growth for the right person. No benefits to start. High autonomy. Direct exposure to real client work from day one.
This is a good fit if you are a recent graduate, a grad student who can commit reliably, or an early-career SEO professional looking to build depth fast in a hands-on agency environment.
What You Will Do
Technical SEO
- Run website health audits using Ahrefs and Google Search Console
- Identify and fix crawl errors, broken links, redirect issues, and indexing problems
- Implement schema markup and structured data
- Manage title tags, meta descriptions, and heading structure
- Coordinate with WordPress developers on site speed, caching, and technical fixes
- Set up and manage Google Tag Manager, conversion tracking, and Search Console properties
- Set up and submit sitemaps to Google and Bing Webmaster Tools
- Manage Google Business Profile setup and optimization
Keyword Research and On-Page Optimization
- Research keywords by volume, difficulty, and intent
- Map keywords to pages and identify content gaps vs. competitors
- Optimize existing pages and build briefs for new content
- Build pillar and cluster content architecture
- Implement internal linking strategies
Link Building and Domain Authority
- Execute outreach campaigns to acquire quality backlinks
- Monitor domain rating and referring domain growth in Ahrefs
- Manage and update client listings on review platforms such as G2, Gartner, and Capterra
- Track and report backlink acquisition progress month over month
AI Search Optimization (AEO/GEO)
- Format content for AI citation and LLM indexing (ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity)
- Track AI mentions and citations for clients
- Support structured data and schema for AI-readable content
- Build FAQ sections and structured page elements that increase AI overview inclusion
Reporting and Analytics
- Produce monthly keyword ranking reports and SEO health summaries
- Track traffic value, domain rating, and backlink growth
- Set up and maintain Google Analytics and Search Console dashboards
- Provide client-ready performance summaries in plain language
What We Are Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, or a related field (recent or upcoming grads welcome)
- Familiarity with Ahrefs, SEMrush, Google Search Console, and Google Analytics
- Working knowledge of WordPress (you do not need to code, but you need to be comfortable in the backend)
- Strong written English - you will be writing briefs, reports, and client-facing content
- Detail-oriented and self-managing - we run lean and need people who follow through
- Genuine curiosity about how search works, including AI search
We use AI tools extensively in our work, and we expect you to use them as well. But this role requires genuine SEO judgment. You need to know why a page is not ranking, not just run a tool and forward the output. You need to understand what a content brief should accomplish before you ask AI to help you write one. We are looking for someone who uses AI to move faster and think more sharply - not someone who treats it as a replacement for understanding the work or for setting up automation. If you cannot explain your reasoning behind an SEO decision in plain language, this is not the right fit.
Good to Have (not required)
- Familiarity with Google Tag Manager
- Any exposure to AI overview optimization or AEO/GEO concepts
- Experience with Databox or similar reporting tools
- Exposure to link-building outreach tools or processes
Work Details
- Contract: Independent Contractor (1099)
- Hours: 20 hours per week to start, scaling to 30-40 with performance
- Location: Fully remote (must be available for calls in PT or ET business hours)
- Schedule: Monday to Friday
- Pay: $25 - $30 per hour based on experience
- Growth path: Strong performers will be offered increased hours and a full-time role
How to Apply
- Send your resume, a brief note on what drew you to SEO specifically (not just digital marketing generally), and any work samples you have - even class projects, personal blogs, or websites you have worked on. We care more about how you think about search than how many years you have been doing it.
Pay: From $30.00 per hour
Work Location: Remote
