Job description

At Snowflake, we are powering the era of the agentic enterprise. To usher in this new era, we seek AI-native thinkers across every function who are energized by the opportunity to reinvent how they work. You don’t just use tools; you possess an innate curiosity, treating AI as a high-trust collaborator that is core to how you solve problems and accelerate your impact. We look for low-ego individuals who thrive in dynamic and fast-moving environments and move with an experimental mindset — who rapidly test emerging capabilities to discover simpler, more powerful ways to deliver results. At Snowflake, your role isn't just to execute a function, but to help redefine the future of how work gets done.

Government Affairs Intern

Washington, D.C.

There is only one Data Cloud. Snowflake's founders started from scratch and designed a data platform built for the cloud that is effective, affordable, and accessible to all data users. But it didn't stop there. They engineered Snowflake to power the Data Cloud, where thousands of organizations unlock the value of their data with near-unlimited scale, concurrency, and performance. This is our vision: a world with endless insights to tackle the challenges and opportunities of today and reveal the possibilities of tomorrow.

We're looking for dedicated students who share our passion for ground-breaking technology and want to create a lasting future for you and Snowflake. The Government Affairs team manages Snowflake's relationships with key government and political leaders across the globe — from Capitol Hill to federal agencies to state and local governments. We are looking for an exceptional student with a keen interest in the intersection of AI technology leadership and public policy — someone who understands that the decisions being made in Washington today will shape the future of the data and AI economy. This intern will support high-visibility engagements with congressional leaders, federal stakeholders, and state and local officials, helping Snowflake advance its policy priorities while gaining firsthand experience in how a leading technology company navigates the evolving regulatory and political landscape.

WHAT WE OFFER

● Paid, full-time internship in the nation's capital at the intersection of technology and policy

● Post-internship career opportunities (full-time and/or additional internships)

● Exposure to a fast-paced, fun, and inclusive culture

● A chance to work with world-class experts on high-stakes policy and government engagement initiatives

● Opportunity to contribute meaningfully to Snowflake's government affairs strategy during a pivotal period for AI policy

● High level of access to supervisors (manager and mentor), detailed direction without micromanagement, feedback throughout your internship, and a final evaluation

WHAT WE EXPECT

● Must be actively enrolled in an accredited university or graduate program during the time of the internship

● Desired Class Level: Rising senior or first-year master's student

● Desired majors: Public Policy, Political Science, Government, International Relations, Law, Business, Economics, Computer Science, or a related field

● Required coursework: Public policy, government/politics, technology policy, or equivalent demonstrated experience

● Recommended coursework: Regulatory affairs, international relations, data privacy/governance, AI ethics, communications, or quantitative analysis

● Bonus Experience: Prior internship or project experience on Capitol Hill, in a federal agency, political campaign, think tank, trade association, or technology company government affairs office; familiarity with AI/data policy issues; demonstrated use of AI tools in an academic or professional context

● Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to synthesize complex technology and policy topics into clear, audience-appropriate narratives

● Demonstrated ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and deliver results in a fast-moving, high-stakes environment

● Intellectual curiosity and a proactive mindset — you are energized by the challenge of shaping how emerging technology and public policy intersect

WHAT YOU WILL LEARN / GAIN

● How a leading global AI and data company engages with policymakers, regulators, and political stakeholders to shape the technology policy landscape

● Direct exposure to congressional relations, federal agency engagement, and state and local government outreach at the highest levels

● Experience staffing and supporting executive-level events, briefings, and meetings with elected officials and senior government leaders

● An understanding of how AI and data policy is developed, debated, and implemented — and how industry plays a role in that process

● Hands-on experience with stakeholder mapping, policy research, event logistics, and strategic communications in a government affairs context

● Mentorship from senior government affairs professionals and cross-functional leaders across Snowflake

POSSIBLE WORK FOCUS AREAS

● Congressional & Federal Engagement: Support the planning, staffing, and follow-up for engagements with members of Congress, committee staff, and federal agency officials — including briefing preparation, meeting logistics, and post-engagement tracking

● State & Local Government Outreach: Assist in building and maintaining relationships with state and local leaders, identifying opportunities for Snowflake to engage on data modernization, AI adoption, and digital governance initiatives

● AI Policy Research & Analysis: Monitor and synthesize developments in AI legislation, data privacy regulation, and technology governance — producing clear, actionable briefs for internal stakeholders and executives

● Event Strategy & Execution: Help plan and staff Snowflake's presence at political and policy events, industry convenings, and government-facing forums in Washington, D.C. and beyond
