The Opportunity:

SEL Engineering Services, Inc. (“SEL-ES”), part of the Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories, Inc. (“SEL”) family of companies, seeks professional, innovative and detailed individuals for our Project Engineer - Protection position located at our Houston, Texas field office.

Project Engineer - Protection (Multiple Openings)

Responsibilities:

The Project Engineer—Protection is required to possess, understand, and apply the fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures of power system protection and related company products (involving system protection, protective relays, and their applications, settings, and testing).  The incumbent will be expected to apply the principles of electrical engineering to: (1) train and assist customers with the creation, design, configuration, validation, installation, commissioning, and operation of protection systems; (2) complete and implement assigned work within agreed-upon scope, schedule, and budget to a high level of quality and safety; (3) participate in the preparation of functional design specifications; (4) prepare and maintain detailed design documents, reports, checklists, test reports, and deliverables; (5) provide support for other company marketing, sales, application engineering, and development activities; and (6) continuously identify, measure, and improve company engineering processes. 

TRAVEL:

These full-time positions will be based out of the company’s Houston field office located at 10111 Richmond Avenue, Suite 300, Houston, Texas 77042.  Because the company has numerous customers nationwide, some travel is required, as the incumbent will occasionally and on a short-term basis be deployed to various customer sites.  Candidates must therefore be willing to travel to various unanticipated locations throughout the United States on an ongoing basis.  However, the position requires regular on-site work at the Houston field office and does not permit remote work or work-from-home arrangements, notwithstanding any required business travel to customer sites.
