Job description
Reporting to the Director, Applied Research and Innovation (OARI), the Applied Research Facilitator works within the Office of Applied Research and Innovation. They develop and support applied research at SaskPolytech through the development of projects and applications for funding. The Applied Research Facilitator is responsible for the development and advancement of a range of applied research projects and related activities.
Communicating applied research opportunities to SaskPolytech faculty, research and staff, the position contributes to applied research events and is a direct liaison between institutions, agencies, industry, community partners and SaskPolytech faculty and researchers.
This position will assist faculty and researchers with the development of applied research including:
Liaising with internal and external contacts to facilitate new applied research projects that respond to industry needs.
Facilitating the development of new and ongoing applied research projects.
Determining project appropriate funding and award opportunities.
Providing proposal development expertise and assistance.
Promoting SaskPolytech applied research capabilities to internal and external clients.
Ensuring requirements for funding agencies are met.
Supporting preparation of accurate proposal budgets in applications in accordance with SaskPolytech policies and funder requirements.
Supporting the transition from proposal pre-award to project post-award.
Qualifications
Post Secondary Degree, preferably in an applied science, or an equivalent combination of training, education and experience. Masters or PhD preferred.
Six years of recent relevant experience in research administration within a multi-disciplinary post-secondary educational institution.
Experience with proposal development within the Canadian research funding environment, along with highly developed skills in scientific writing, project management, and budget development.
Broad knowledge of academic structures and culture.
Strong analytical, evaluation and problem-solving skills.
Demonstrated proficiency in software applications such as Microsoft Office Suite, including advanced level experience with PowerPoint or other presentation software.
Effective interpersonal skills
Effective written and verbal communication skills.
Proven effective organizational and financial planning skills.
Demonstrated ability to deliver proactive, user-oriented services; particularly in mentoring and supporting research faculty.
Demonstrated negotiation skills.
Ability to exercise judgment, tact, diplomacy, and confidentiality while managing competing interests and multiple competing deadlines
Able to work independently with little to no supervision.
Demonstrates valuing diversity.
