Position Summary We’re looking for a Senior SRE to lead our Cloud Engineering SmartThings team in driving the reliability, scalability, and performance of mission-critical systems processing terabytes of data daily. You’ll architect and implement cloud-native solutions, lead cross-functional initiatives with backend development teams, and define strategies to minimize downtime and maximize operational efficiency. Role and Responsibilities Architect and implement solutions for mission-critical systems Define platform strategy and technical roadmap for cloud infrastructure Drive organizational adoption of SRE/DevOps practices (e.g., error budgets, automation SLAs) Lead cross-functional initiatives (site reliability, cost optimization, platform evolution) Mentor mid-level engineers and establish team knowledge-sharing frameworks Develop self-healing systems through advanced automation and AI/ML integration Own platform resilience: Implement chaos engineering, disaster recovery, and SLO-driven design Reduce toil through platform abstractions and developer tooling Set observability standards (metrics, tracing, logging) across the organization Manage mission-critical on-call rotations with escalation authority Skills and Qualifications 8+ years (senior) / 10+ years (staff) in infrastructure roles Multi-cloud mastery (AWS/Azure/GCP) with architecture certification (e.g., Solutions Architect Pro) Deep expertise in Kubernetes ecosystems (Karpenter, ArgoCD, service meshes) Proven track record in designing scalable IaC pipelines and GitOps workflows Advanced observability implementation (distributed tracing, anomaly detection) Experience with FinOps and cost-optimization frameworks Technical leadership: Drive platform decisions, vendor evaluations, and team upskilling Cross-functional influence: Partner with backend services teams on reliability and performance Incident management: Lead post-mortems and systemic improvements The salary range for this role is expected to be between $113,900 to $147,400 and reflects base salary only. Actual pay will be determined based on a number of factors and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, competencies, qualifications, relevant skills and experience.
