# Legal Assistant / Law Clerk / Paralegal

Saba Khan Law is a boutique Ontario firm practising employment and human rights law. We act for both employees and employers across the province, and we hold ourselves to responsive, high-quality service. We are looking for a capable legal support professional to keep the practice running and to give every client an excellent first impression.
This is a remote independent contractor role. You will need your own phone and laptop, equipped with Microsoft Office Essentials. You stay free to take on other work, provided it does not conflict with ours.
## What you will do
You will run the administrative and client-facing backbone of the practice:
- **Intake.** Field incoming calls, explain our consultation options and rates, and book new clients for consultations.
- **Drafting.** Prepare and send retainer agreements, demand letters, correspondence, pleadings, and close-of-matter letters.
- **Calendar and deadlines.** Track and organize response dates, opposing counsel deadlines, fee-payment dates, and reminders.
- **Billing.** Prepare and send invoices, follow up on unpaid accounts, and process same-day consultation payments.
- **Practice management.** Open and close matters in Clio, enter dockets, and keep documents saved, labelled, and organized.
- **Client communication.** Answer client emails on procedural matters, such as bookings and timing.
- **Compliance and reputation.** Help meet Law Society requirements at intake, onboarding, and close of matter, and request Google reviews from satisfied clients.
## Who we are looking for
- Experience as a paralegal, law clerk, or legal assistant, ideally in an Ontario practice.
- Familiarity with Clio, or a comparable practice-management system, and with Microsoft Office.
- Sharp attention to detail and real care about deadlines.
- Strong interpersonal skills and a warm, confident phone manner.
- Strong judgment and common sense.
- Proactiveness and initiative: you spot what needs doing and take it on.
- Clear, professional writing.
- The discretion to handle confidential client information properly.
## Start date
The position is available from July 20th onwards.
