Backend Engineer – Retail Integrations

Role Description

We are looking for a Backend Engineer – Retail Integrations to take ownership of our integrations with third-party retailers in the United States. You will work closely with the engineering and devops team. This is a do-it-all role, and we need an individual who wants to get their hands dirty. This role is full-time remote.

What we are looking for:

3–5+ years of hands-on backend engineering experience, with Kotlin as the primary language; strong Java experience is considered if paired with a genuine interest in adopting Kotlin.

Solid experience with Spring Boot and production-grade application development.

Strong command of authentication and authorization patterns (OAuth 2.0, API keys, token lifecycle management) across a range of integration architectures.

Proficiency working with both REST and GraphQL APIs, including handling underdocumented or evolving third-party interfaces.

Experience designing and working within microservices architectures, including asynchronous communication via Apache ActiveMQ.

Hands-on experience with frontend reverse engineering and web scraping, including browser automation tools such as Puppeteer or Playwright.

Experience integrating with grocery or food retailer APIs (order management, product catalogs, availability, or fulfillment) is a strong competitive advantage.

General AWS knowledge including S3, and familiarity with core AWS services and best practices.

General frontend knowledge and familiarity with modern frameworks (React, Vue, or similar).

Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage time effectively.

Ready to respond to outages and troubleshoot issues quickly when things break.
