Job description

Rural Routes to Climate Solutions (RR2CS) shines a spotlight on the climate solutions that Alberta’s farmers, ranchers and rural communities can benefit from. RR2CS is seeking a Multimedia Content Producer to help plan, produce and share engaging podcast and video content that brings practical climate solutions to life.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys shaping stories through audio, video and written content. You’ll support the development of podcast episodes, short videos, voice-over scripts, edit notes, show notes, website copy and social media content — helping RR2CS share clear, thoughtful and accessible stories with farmers, ranchers, partners and rural communities across Alberta.

While this is a remote position, applicants must reside in Alberta, Canada

The Multimedia Content Producer will be responsible for the following activities:

  • Supporting podcast episode planning, including reviewing themes, identifying story angles and preparing production notes
  • Developing voice-over scripts and edit notes for podcast and video content
  • Editing and producing podcast episodes, videos and other multimedia content
  • Preparing podcast and video show notes, summaries and supporting website copy for publication
  • Drafting suggested social media copy and preparing multimedia assets to help promote podcast episodes, videos and related stories
  • Supporting the repurposing of podcast and video content into shorter clips, written updates or promotional materials
  • Working with RR2CS team members to gather background information, clarify key messages and ensure content is accurate
  • Reviewing multimedia content to ensure it is clear, engaging and aligned with RR2CS’ tone and messaging
  • Organizing multimedia files, drafts, notes and final assets so they are easy for the team to access and use
  • Coordinating with external contractors, partners or team members involved in podcast and video production, when needed
  • Providing general multimedia communications support to the team as needed

About Rural Routes to Climate Solutions:

Rural Routes to Climate Solutions (RR2CS) is a nonprofit organization established in 2017 to help rural Albertans explore and benefit from climate solutions. We believe these solutions do more than reduce emissions — they also strengthen resilience to extreme weather, improve soil health, protect biodiversity, support energy independence and create new opportunities for rural communities.

Our approach is community-driven and rooted in a made-in-Alberta perspective that makes climate conversations practical and respectful of rural realities. We remove barriers by creating space for producers and communities to identify solutions that work for them, and we share inspiring stories that show the real benefits of action.

Currently, we focus on agriculture in Alberta, providing opportunities for producers through two main avenues: participant-driven projects and accessible learning resources. We are a small, collaborative team that values creativity, openness and respect and we work closely with producers, partners and communities across the province to turn ideas into action.

Who you are

You’re the kind of person who enjoys turning conversations, ideas and project updates into strong audio, video and written content. You understand how to shape a story, pull out the most useful details and make complex topics easier for people to connect with.

You can move between podcast planning, video scripting, editing, show notes, website copy and social media drafts without losing track of the bigger picture. You’re creative, organized and comfortable managing the many small details that go into producing polished multimedia content.

You communicate clearly and thoughtfully. Whether you’re writing a voice-over script, editing an episode, preparing show notes or working with a team member on content direction, you know how to keep the tone friendly, professional and easy to understand. You’re also able to understand an organization’s voice and style, so the stories you produce feel consistent with RR2CS’ existing content.

You work well independently in a remote environment, but you also know when to ask questions, flag an issue or keep others in the loop. You take accuracy seriously and understand that strong storytelling can help strengthen RR2CS’ relationships with farmers, ranchers, partners and rural communities.

If this sounds like you, we’d love to hear from you!
