We are presently seeking multiple detail-oriented Technical Writers to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for creating, editing, and reviewing technical documentation and illustrations that support advanced simulated training systems. You will work closely with subject matter experts, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure accuracy, clarity, and adherence to established guidelines.
Responsibilities
- Transform complex technical concepts into clear, concise, and organized content that aligns with engineering department guidelines.
- Collaborate with subject matter experts and work from technical sources such as the Logistics Support Analysis Record (LSAR), engineering drawings, schematics, and documentation to develop user-friendly technical manuals and other documentation.
- Author and manage Interactive Electronic Technical Manuals (IETMs) and their associated Common Source Database (CSDB) Data Modules.
- Develop high-quality illustrations and photographs to accompany written content, ensuring alignment with Technical Documentation department standards.
- Apply and validate technical publications against S1000D Business Rules.
- Prepare and deliver customer documentation, including printed and electronic formats, and archive materials as required.
- Organize and index third-party manufacturer documentation to ensure accessibility and usability.
- Provide support to the training department as needed.
- Track and report the status of project technical documentation to ensure timeline adherence.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance documentation processes and outputs.
Requirements
- Post-secondary education in a technical field, English, Technical Writing, or Communications.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in producing technical publications, ideally in an aviation/aerospace environment.
- Strong understanding of XML Structured Data, XML Schemas, and experience working in an XML authoring environment.
- Familiarity with S1000D Standards is an asset
- Experience with the EAGLE Publishing System is a plus.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in French (oral and written) and experience with English-French translation is an added advantage.
- Excellent experience with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
- Strong organizational and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with diverse teams.
- Highly self-motivated, with the ability to prioritize tasks and work independently with minimal supervision.
- Bilingual in English and French is an asset.
The successful candidate will be required to complete a criminal background check and obtain/maintain a Government of Canada security clearance and any applicable clearances with respect to the handling and transfer of controlled goods.
This position is eligible for consideration of a hybrid work arrangement with set onsite days.
