What is the opportunity?

As a Lead Data Scientist on the Fraud AI Model Governance team, you will oversee the AI Model Governance program for Fraud Data Science and AI (Fraud DSA). You will collaborate with model developers within Fraud DSA and external vendors to deliver high-quality model risk governance documentation and model performance monitoring for Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) models used by Fraud Management. You will also provide model development oversight for Fraud DSA to ensure compliance with RBC’s Enterprise Model Risk Operating Standards.

What will you do?

  • Develop and maintain model performance monitoring for all Fraud models.
  • Create Model Performance Tracking (MPT) metrics for all fraud models, set alert thresholds, and identify/escalate performance issues.
  • Collaborate with Fraud DSA model development teams to deliver and maintain audit- and regulatory-compliant governance documentation.
  • Coordinate with Enterprise Model Risk partners and Fraud model developers to ensure timely completion of governance responsibilities (e.g., Quarterly MPT, Annual Assessments, Issue Closure Memos).
  • Provide Model Development Oversight for Fraud DSA, ensuring adherence to RBC Enterprise Model Risk Operating Standards.
  • Coordinate Fraud DSA's responses to regulatory and audit inquiries related to model risk.
  • Collaborate with Fraud model developers to perform supplemental model testing.
  • Develop and implement best practices for leveraging Large Language Models (LLMs) to streamline fraud model governance activities.

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have

  • 5+ years' experience in advanced analytics, data science, or AI-related roles, working with large, real-world datasets.
  • Experience with AI/ML model risk governance documentation.
  • Proficiency in Python and Spark, and experience creating data visualizations tools like Tableau or similar.
  • Strong data analytics expertise, including familiarity with enterprise technologies (e.g., big data, cloud platforms).
  • Professional oral/written communication skills, including technical documentation.
  • Proven collaboration skills with the ability to navigate ambiguity.
  • Strong organization and time management skills to balance multiple deliverables with fixed deadlines.

Nice-to-have

  • Graduate degree in a quantitative discipline (e.g., Statistics, Computer Science, Mathematics).
  • Direct experience in Fraud Data Science.
  • Experience working with transactional data.
