Required Education:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
Preferred Education:
- Associate's Degree in Microbiology or related field
Required Qualifications/Skills/Experience:
- 01 year of experience working in a microbiology laboratory
- Familiarity with standard microbiological testing methods
- Experience handling live microorganisms in a controlled laboratory environment
- Basic understanding of laboratory safety practices
Biologist Overview:
- This position supports a microbiology laboratory team responsible for conducting routine testing to ensure product safety and quality within a consumer goods environment
- The role involves performing standardized microbiological assays, preparing laboratory materials, and maintaining compliance with established procedures and safety standards
- The technician will contribute to testing processes such as preservative effectiveness and microbial limits while ensuring accurate documentation and reporting of results
- This role requires a high level of precision, consistency, and adherence to protocols, with opportunities to work independently following completion of training
- The position also includes essential laboratory support functions, contributing to overall operational efficiency
Job Duties:
- Perform standard microbiological tests including preservative effectiveness testing, microbial limits testing time-kill kinetic studies, and in vivo testing
- Prepare microbiological media in large quantities
- Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, including autoclaves
- Handle live microorganisms in accordance with established procedures
- Conduct basic microbiological testing and record results accurately
- Perform laboratory cleaning tasks, including dishwashing and equipment maintenance
- Report test results in a clear and timely manner
Comments/Special Instructions:
32 hours per week depending on the workload
