Due to nuclear site access/or export-controlled project requirements, this role requires candidates to be U.S. Citizens and not hold dual citizenship. Candidates must also be willing to work on W2.

CNC Programmer – 2nd Shift (Contract Opportunity)
Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced CNC Programmer to support 2nd shift manufacturing operations through CNC programming, process development, and shop floor support. The ideal candidate will have expertise in Siemens NX CAM, CNC machining, and process optimization, with the ability to support complex machining operations while driving continuous improvement in safety, quality, delivery, and cost.
Key Responsibilities
- Support 2nd shift CNC programming, process development, and shop floor operations.
- Develop CNC programs and machining processes for one or more of the following equipment:
- Large Vertical Turning Lathes (VTL) up to 2.5 meters
- Large Vertical Boring Mills (VBM) up to 2.5 meters
- Large Head-to-Head Gantry 5-Axis Machines
- Large Vertical Multi-Purpose Turn/Grind Machines
- Generate and maintain CNC programs using Siemens NX CAM or similar CAM software.
- Create programs for multi-axis milling, turning, grinding, and EDM operations.
- Verify CNC programs using Vericut or equivalent machine simulation software before shop floor release.
- Incorporate Renishaw probing cycles for part validation, process verification, and error detection.
- Develop CNC programs in accordance with established machining standards and qualified process parameters.
- Provide technical support to Manufacturing Engineering and assist with operator training during new equipment startups, machine rebuilds, and process improvements.
- Troubleshoot CNC programming issues and provide daily support to manufacturing personnel.
- Support tooling and fixturing requirements for CNC machining operations.
- Create and maintain workstation instructions and process documentation.
- Lead and support continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, quality, delivery, and cost.
- Communicate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
- Work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 4 years of experience with graphical CAM-based CNC programming.
- Strong experience with Siemens NX CAM (preferred).
- Experience developing CNC programs for multi-axis machining operations.
- Knowledge of CNC machining processes, tooling, and manufacturing best practices.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic manufacturing environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience creating 5-axis CNC programs using Siemens NX CAM or similar software.
- At least 1 year of experience with advanced CNC controls, including:
- Macro/Subroutine programming
- Renishaw probing routines
- Variable-based programming
- Closed Loop Machining (CLM)
- Hands-on machining experience with the ability to set up and validate complex first-piece programs.
- Experience machining large-format components requiring tight tolerances on equipment such as VTLs and VBMs.
- Experience machining nickel-based superalloys such as Inconel, Rene, Hastelloy, or similar materials used in aerospace or heavy industrial applications.
- Experience using Vericut or equivalent CNC simulation software.
- Familiarity with multiple CNC controls, including Fanuc, Haas, Okuma, and Siemens.
- Strong ability to interpret engineering drawings and GD&T requirements.
- Solid shop mathematics skills, including geometry and trigonometry.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining high quality standards.
