Position description

Rhodium Group is looking for an entrepreneurial and talented Research Analyst to join our world-class team of economists, policy and geopolitical analysts, researchers, and data engineers.

As a Research Analyst on Rhodium Group’s Energy & Climate Corporate Advisory team, you will support the team’s research on US and global energy markets and policy trends, as well as artificial intelligence (AI) and technological innovation, and other energy and climate-related global trends of strategic interest to our corporate clients.

Position responsibilities

  • Provide research support for client deliverables, including research notes, briefing decks, and email alerts, etc.
  • Provide research and writing support for longer-form client projects.
  • Conduct regular tracking of news and policy developments of interest to clients.
  • Provide research support for business development activities.
  • Contribute to the firm’s knowledge base on issues related to global and domestic energy markets and policy, AI and energy, corporate energy transition strategies, innovative computing, and sectoral/topical issues of interest to corporate clients.

Qualifications

Competitive candidates will have the following qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in economics, political science, energy systems analysis, physical science, or related fields plus at least two years; or a Bachelor’s degree in similar fields with at least four years of professional experience.
  • Professional understanding of US and globally relevant energy, climate, economic, innovation and political dynamics and a passion for bringing objective analysis to corporate audiences. Analytical expertise in the following fields will be considered a strong plus: clean energy technologies, decarbonization, artificial intelligence, or corporate climate and clean energy commitments.
  • Excellent research and data analysis skills with the ability to prepare clear and accurate reports of research results. Ability to synthesize policy developments and/or economic data into succinct and compelling stories.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to present information clearly and concisely through memos, reports, briefings, and other deliverables.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and capacity for self-directed work. The candidate should be capable of handling multiple time-sensitive projects at once and independently produce client-ready, polished outputs.
  • Near native-level English writing and speaking skills.
  • Strong proficiency with Excel for data analysis and visualization; experience with R or Python programing language, Bloomberg terminal, and an ability to work with multiple diverse datasets in a fast-paced environment is a strong plus.
  • Work authorization in the United States required.

Location and travel requirements

  • The strongly preferred location for this role is Washington, DC, but New York City or the Bay Area of California are both less preferred but possible options for the right candidate.
  • Occasional domestic travel (<15%)

Rhodium Group compensates based on the level and requirements of the role. Salary within our range may also be determined by factors including, but not limited to, your education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as required by the role, as well as geographic location, performance, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics, internal equity, alignment with market data, and business or organizational needs. Typically, Research Analysts (level 2) join at an annualized salary of $115,578. You will also have an additional 15% bonus target based on a combination of company and individual performance.
