Job Description

Job Responsibilities :

  • Purpose of the Role - To administer fire station and its related operations, as well as ensure availability and operability of various fire safety equipment and vehicles in order to control and mitigate fire safety incidents as per the established fire safety policies, processes and standard operating procedures.

  • Responsibilities -
  • Policies, Processes and Procedures -
  • Conduct & follow established fire safety policies, processes, standard operating procedures and maintenance and integrity programs to provide assurance of the fire safety services.
  • Assurance -
  • Carryout investigation of all fire safety incidents, conduct root cause analysis and identify action plans to avert future fire incidents
  • Assist in plant level fire safety audits and implement suggestive measures to bridge identified gaps
  • Maintain & evaluate the Risk Assessment (RA) sheet & make necessary modifications therein to assure adequate fire prevention measures
  • Organize and conduct daily fire drills to ensure effective response in case of fire emergency"
  • Operations -
  • Recognise potential escalations/hidden hazards and apply fire fighting strategies for a given process, tank farm or marine emergency scenario as applicable to area of work
  • Provide immediate response to emergency calls, exhibit incident command & control technique, and ensure mobilization of resources for emergency control and mitigation
  • Utilize appropriate firefighting equipment and techniques, and liaise with various emergency responders and incident commander for effective emergency management
  • Prepare training modules/ programs and organize fire awareness training to fire executive/ site employee to enhance awareness/ capability pertaining to fire safety
  • Ensure availability and reliability of all firefighting equipment, vehicles, and communication systems at all fire stations on ready to use basis to avert any fire incidents
  • Report non-compliant cases and implement suggested measures to minimize non-compliance
  • Maintain log book, occurrence book and other shift related documentation to ensure adherence to fire safety compliances"

Job Accountabilities

  • Immediate response to all emergency calls including mock drills and mobilization of required resources to mitigate the emergency.
  • Develop/Evaluate the Risk Assessment (RA) sheet for the specific job and make necessary modifications therein,
  • Provide necessary guidance to shift fire executive during routine shift activities and during emergency operations.
  • Participate in Risk Assessment sessions at plant level for all critical jobs and ensure adequate fire prevention measures during such activities in the plant including plant turnarounds
  • Arrange resource planning and allocation
  • Exhibit Incident Command & Control technique for emergency control & mitigation.
  • Training of Shift fire personnel
  • Ensure availability of all firefighting equipment/systems and communication systems on ready to use basis.
  • Assure performance of fire vehicles and jeeps.
  • Suggest & ensure corrective measures based on the incident analysis.
  • Ensure material availability and inventory management of charged store at all fire stations
  • Carryout Fire safety inspection round of the plant
  • Carryout preliminary investigation all incidents and release Turnout report on incident
  • Organize and conduct daily fire drills and PT
  • Ensure the compliance of all scheduled activities in his shift at all fire stations
  • Assist site fire prevention initiatives
  • Ensure compliance with fire safety standards, procedures and checklist
  • Maintain Log book, Occurrence book and other shift related documentation.

  • Recognise the potential escalations/hidden hazards and Apply Fire Fighting Strategies for a given process, tank farm emergency scenario as applicable to area of work.
  • Judge & Guide the emergency response team for effective termination of emergencies
  • Ability to liase with various emergency responders and incident commander for formulating the attack Plan
  • Application and make use of different firefighting equipment, consumables, systems and other resources for effective emergency Management
  • High level of proficiency in Fire Safety Management

Key Attributes (Experience And Qualifications)

Educational Qualifications:

B.E.- Fire Engineering / B.Sc. Fire & Safety/ Station fire officer/ Sub officer course & Grad I (minimum)

Relevant Experience:

Over 3 years of relevant work experience for engineering graduate / Over 08 years of relevant work experience for B.Sc. & Station fire officer/ Over 12 years of relevant post qualification experience for Sub officer with Grad I.

Education Requirement :

Necessary: -Bachelors of Engineering in Fire or Diploma Engineer / Bachelors of Science with Station Officer Course / Grad I (IFE UK / INDIA) / Sub Officer Course
