About Redwood Materials
Redwood is localizing a global battery supply chain that seamlessly integrates recovery, reuse, and recycling — keeping critical minerals in circulation and driving the energy transition. Founded in 2017, we’re delivering low-cost and large-scale energy storage and producing battery materials in the U.S. for the first time, all from batteries we already have.
Redwood Materials is looking for a Global Supply Manager to source and own supplier relationships, support new product development and manufacturing. This role will collaborate closely with engineering and manufacturing to execute our harness roadmap. The primary scope of this role is wiring harnesses, cable assemblies, and connector systems.
What You'll Do
- Lead end-to-end RFx processes — scoping requirements, issuing RFQs, evaluating responses, and driving supplier selection to award.
- Build and maintain should-cost models for wire harnesses and cable assemblies — decomposing copper, insulation, terminal, connector housing, and assembly labor cost — to anchor negotiations in first principles.
- Negotiate piece price, tooling, payment terms, and master agreements — ensuring contracts are in place before business is initiated and that commercial terms hold up at scale.
- Own the commercial relationship with key suppliers — tracking performance, managing escalations, and building the trust needed to move fast when it matters.
- Develop and execute commodity strategies across low and high voltage harnesses, OTS and custom connectors, terminal systems
- Drive supplier readiness across NPI, production ramp, and sustained manufacturing while thinking about cost, capacity planning, and lead time management
- Present clear recommendations to engineering and executive stakeholders.
What You'll Bring
- Background in sourcing high voltage and/or low voltage wire harnesses, cable assemblies, and interconnect commodities
- Core understanding of cable cost drivers, assembly labor economics, connector qualification, and supplier dynamics across high-volume harness manufacturing.
- 5+ years sourcing experience in a similar role
- Strong excel and spreadsheet skills
- Strong project management skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Flexible mindset and temperament.
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally. Average 25% travel
Preferred Skills
- Experience with custom Cable Development
- Strong record of applying first principles thinking toward supplier negotiations.
- Capable of managing successful escalations up to the executive level within a supplier.
- Experience with MRP/ERP systems
