Responsibilities

  • Develop and mentor employees, provide feedback, and recognize achievements
  • Ensure all operations comply with company policies and legal regulations
  • Plan daily operations, assign staff, approve overtime, and manage costs
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives in line with ISO and LEAN principles
  • Oversee capacity planning for equipment, space, and workforce based on workload forecasts
  • Ensure all tasks are completed on time, meeting on-time delivery goals
  • Maintain and improve location quality programs
  • Ensure compliance with WSIB regulations and corporate safety policies, including workplace inspections and equipment maintenance
  • Oversee incident reporting, investigations, and prevention measures, ensuring employees follow safe work procedures and use proper PPE
  • Lead safety training and return-to-work programs, working with the Regional Health & Safety Manager and Joint Health & Safety Committee
  • Assist with budget planning, capital expenditures, and maintenance programs
  • Work with different departments to meet production standards and business goals

Qualifications

  • You have a minimum of 3 years experience in a plant management role
  • You have strong knowledge of the Ontario employment act
  • Experience with metal processing: saw cutting, overhead crane and loading
  • You have supervisory experience working in a unionized manufacturing / production environment
  • You have STRONG communication and interpersonal skills. This role will require you to build relationships with all employees, supervisors and internal stakeholders
  • Strong analytical, time management and organizational skills
  • Prior experience in process improvement programs is an asset
  • You have strong project management, planning and decision making skills.
  • strong computer skills - MS Office is key and are able to learn other software
