CBC has an opportunity for an experienced on-air leader to join the London team for one year. CBC London leads the way in multi-platform storytelling emphasising live and responsive reporting rooted in the community. As a key member of the team, you thrive on setting the news agenda, providing critical survival information to audiences in the city and across the region, and collaborating to make the material resonate across platforms.
The Opportunity
Reporting to the executive producer, you’ll be reporting, producing and presenting news on London Morning, the region’s number one radio morning program, and contributing stories to digital platforms across the day. You will have on-air experience presenting newscasts, and engaging with audiences through appropriate platforms. You’ve worked in the field, and you bring your experience and journalistic judgement to the newsroom to help support the overall team.
You’ll be key to guiding editorial decisions, as well as tapping into local communities to give big and small newsmakers a voice. You’re a breaking news junkie who likes to experiment with different storytelling formats and technology to best suit audience needs.
You listen and know that no detail is too small to get right. You ask why — a lot. You also love the craft of writing and have experience producing work for both broadcast and digital formats. You doggedly pursue stories and feel comfortable working on your own. You also know that news is collaborative and you want to work as part of a team to provide the best content to the audience.
This role is for someone who likes a high paced, early morning environment. You must be interested in learning how to operate a console in a radio studio and be comfortable going to air in a live environment, while meeting multiple deadlines.
