Job Description:

Accounting Senior Manager of Business Initiatives works with the accounting leadership team to ensure accounting operations and initiatives are executed effectively. The position is responsible for promoting efficiency, overseeing cross-functional projects, and managing reporting and communication processes. Additionally, this role acts as a liaison between accounting leadership and internal stakeholders to assist in prioritizing initiatives, facilitating project execution, and maintaining accountability.

What You'll Do:

Leadership & Business Initiatives

  • Partner with the VP of Accounting on strategic initiatives and special projects.

  • Act as the primary liaison between accounting leadership and other business partners

  • Prioritize and track execution of critical initiatives across the accounting team.

  • Anticipate leadership needs and proactively address challenges.

  • Prepare executive updates, presentations, reports, etc. and board-level materials, ensuring clarity, accuracy, and insight into accounting operations and outcomes.

Enterprise Accounting Projects

  • Manage enterprise-level accounting projects to ensure consistency in policies, internal controls, and reporting.

  • Oversee accounting aspects of major organizational initiatives (ERP upgrades, M&A integration, automation, policy updates).

  • Drive delivery and continuous improvement through data, metrics, and stakeholder feedback.

Operational Excellence

  • Champion process improvements, automation, and systems enhancements that strengthen accounting operations.

  • Drive standardization and scalability of accounting processes across diverse business units and locations.

  • Ensure accounting policies and practices comply with GAAP and support enterprise growth and transformation.

  • Anticipate risks, dependencies, and emerging issues; implement mitigation strategies to ensure operational continuity.

  • Identify, investigate, and resolve accounting issues or discrepancies; lead root cause analysis and corrective action planning.

  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to resolve data integrity issues or process breakdowns impacting financial reporting.

Stakeholder Management & Communication

  • Represent the VP of Accounting in cross-functional meetings and working groups.

  • Serve as the go-to contact for escalations and cross-departmental collaboration.

  • Develop and oversee communication processes that drive alignment, transparency, and accountability with both accounting staff and executives.

  • Serve as primary liaison between accounting leadership and internal/external stakeholders.

Leadership

  • Lead and mentor accounting staff and project teams, promoting professional growth and cross-functional collaboration.

  • Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and operational excellence within the accounting team.

  • Model adaptability, responsiveness, and execution focus in a fast-paced, matrixed environment.

What We're Looking For:

  • 7–10 years of progressive accounting experience, including hands-on project and issue resolution work.

  • Familiarity with Workday is a plus

  • Exposure to cross-functional projects is a plus.

  • Strong understanding of GAAP, technical accounting, and internal controls.

  • Proven ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

  • Excellent problem-solving, critical thinking, and analytical abilities.

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills; able to explain technical topics to non-accounting audiences.

  • High attention to detail with a continuous improvement mindset.
