SUMMARY

Q2 is seeking a Network Engineer who will serve as a primary owner and subject matter expert for corporate network infrastructure. This role is responsible for the day-to-day operation, administration, and improvement of the organization's Meraki-based network environment, circuit and carrier relationships, corporate and guest wireless, 802.1X network access control, and building-to-building connectivity. The engineer will work independently with flexibility over daily priorities, contribute to lifecycle and vulnerability management programs, and serve as the primary point of escalation for network incidents and projects across corporate locations.

This position requires a strong operational background in Cisco Meraki administration, network access control, and carrier management, combined with the ability to document standards, coordinate cross-functional work, and drive issues to resolution with minimal supervision.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Network Infrastructure and Meraki Administration 

  • Administer the Meraki dashboard including switches, access points, and security appliances across corporate locations 

  • Maintain configuration standards, firmware management practices, and monitoring and alerting policies 

  • Troubleshoot network issues and provide support for network changes and maintenance activities 

  • Manage and enforce Meraki administrative access model and document changes to the environment 

 

Circuit and Carrier Management 

  • Manage primary and secondary circuits across all corporate locations, including inventory, documentation, and service records 

  • Coordinate with ISPs and circuit vendors for installs, renewals, disconnects, and service reviews 

  • Own escalation management for circuit outages and degraded service events 

  • Maintain carrier ownership and escalation matrix; serve as primary vendor contact for circuit providers 

 

Corporate Wireless and Guest Wireless 

  • Administer corporate wireless SSIDs and manage guest wireless setup, access controls, and ongoing support 

  • Troubleshoot wireless performance issues and support access point deployment and coverage initiatives 

  • Maintain wireless policy and configuration standards across the enterprise 

  • Isolate and escalate Netskope-related wireless issues in coordination with the security team 

 

802.1X and Network Access Control 

  • Own wired and wireless 802.1X configuration, support, and ongoing policy management 

  • Troubleshoot authentication failures and resolve certificate-related issues 

  • Coordinate with identity and security teams on policy dependencies and NAC platform changes 

  • Maintain operational support procedures for 802.1X environments 

 

Building-to-Building Connectivity 

  • Manage network connectivity between corporate buildings, including inter-building routing, uplinks, and failover paths 

  • Troubleshoot site-to-site connectivity incidents and coordinate maintenance and planned changes 

  • Execute and document disaster recovery testing procedures between circuits serving corporate buildings 

 

ThousandEyes Endpoint Agent Management 

  • Administer ThousandEyes Endpoint Agents for corporate laptops, including deployment, visibility, and troubleshooting support 

  • Review agent health and coverage across the environment; coordinate with endpoint and support teams as needed 

  • Maintain ownership documentation and support procedures for the agent management program 

 

Lifecycle and Vulnerability Management 

  • Track hardware and software end-of-life milestones; develop refresh recommendations and coordinate upgrade or replacement planning 

  • Own the network infrastructure patch planning process, coordinating firmware, software, and security updates 

  • Track remediation of identified vulnerabilities in coordination with security teams; manage prioritization and change planning 

  • Maintain patching cadence documentation and vulnerability remediation tracker 

 

Documentation and Knowledge Management 

  • Maintain and update network topology diagrams, building interconnect diagrams, and Meraki administrative standards 

  • Keep circuit inventory, vendor contact lists, and carrier escalation matrices current and centrally available 

  • Document 802.1X operational procedures, DR testing procedures, and ThousandEyes support ownership 

  • Maintain open issues, known risks, and technical debt summaries for ongoing management visibility 



EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE

  • Typically requires a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field and a minimum of 5 years of related experience; or an advanced degree with 3+ years of experience; or equivalent related work experience 

  • Demonstrated hands-on experience with Cisco Meraki cloud-managed networking, including MX security appliances, MS switches, and MR access points; proficiency with Meraki Dashboard administration, configuration standards, and firmware management 

  • Experience owning and managing enterprise circuit relationships, including coordination with ISPs and carriers for installs, renewals, outage escalation, and service reviews 

  • Working knowledge of corporate and guest wireless architecture, SSID administration, and wireless troubleshooting in enterprise environments 

  • Experience with 802.1X wired and wireless configuration, authentication troubleshooting, certificate management, and coordination with identity and NAC platforms such as Portnox, Cisco ISE, or equivalent 

  • Familiarity with Netskope or similar secure access service edge (SASE) platforms and their interaction with wireless infrastructure 

  • Experience with ThousandEyes or similar network monitoring and endpoint visibility tools 

  • Advanced knowledge of routing, switching, firewalls, and VPN technologies 

  • Strong diagnostic and log analysis skills with the ability to drive incidents to resolution independently 

  • Proven ability to manage documentation, maintain operational standards, and communicate clearly across technical and non-technical teams 

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a high-pressure environment with minimal supervision 

  • Certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, Meraki ECMS, or equivalent are highly preferred
