Job description
About Pylon
America’s $13T mortgage market is one of the most important financial systems in the world. It underwrites the middle class and is the mechanism through which millions of families build wealth. But while every other financial instrument has been simplified to an API call, mortgages are still assembled by hand.
We started from zero and created the first vertically integrated mortgage platform that turns origination into a single API.
Publicly traded companies and the country’s largest originators are already building on Pylon. Revenue is compounding monthly. We’re backed by Peter Thiel, Conversion Capital, QED, Citi, Fifth Wall, and the founders of Ramp, Blend, and Mercury.
Working at Pylon isn’t for those seeking comfort. The people who thrive here have high agency, strong opinions, and a track record of delivering outcomes without direction. Many of us are former founders. We move quickly, challenge each other directly, and take full ownership of results. It’s hard work, but it will be worth it.
Join us in building America’s mortgage rails.
THE TEAM
We're looking for Back End Engineers to join our Integrations team. This team connects Pylon to the outside world — the partners, services, and data sources that make a seamless mortgage experience possible.
We have a critical, multi-month project ahead: building out a ton of integrations. Credit bureaus, title companies, insurance providers, document services — mortgage touches everything, and we need to plug into all of it. This is a rare opportunity to work across the entire mortgage domain and understand how all the pieces fit together, fast.
HERE IS WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Build integrations across the mortgage ecosystem. You'll connect Pylon to external partners — each with their own APIs, data formats, quirks, and reliability characteristics. No two are the same.
- Work on everything. This role touches every part of the mortgage process. You'll gain a comprehensive understanding of how mortgage works — not in theory, but by building the connective tissue that makes it function.
- Own solutions from development to deploy to maintenance. You build it, you ship it, you keep it running. Integrations are only as good as their uptime, and that's your responsibility.
- Be self-directed and versatile. The integrations surface is wide. You'll need to context-switch between partners, prioritize what matters, and drive projects forward without waiting for someone to hand you the next task.
- Move fast on a high-impact project. This isn't a "someday" initiative. We're building these integrations now, and each one we ship unlocks new capabilities for our customers.
TECH STACK
- TypeScript
- NestJS + GraphQL
- SQL (PostgreSQL)
- Temporal.io http://Temporal.io (workflow orchestration)
- External partner APIs (REST, SOAP, file-based — the full spectrum)
- AI-driven development tooling and agentic infrastructure
WHO WILL SUCCEED HERE
Someone who:
- Is deeply curious
- Wants to own features from design to development to deployment to maintenance
- Is willing to put the work in to solve the hardest of problems
Location: Palo Alto , CA Base Salary Range: $140,000/yr to $220,000/yr + Equity + Benefits
