As an Android SDE-3 at PhysicsWallah (PW), you will be responsible for leading the development of scalable and high-performance mobile applications used by millions of learners. Your role will involve deep technical expertise, architectural ownership, mentoring capabilities, and driving engineering excellence in a fast-paced product environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead end-to-end design and development of complex Android features and modules
- Architect scalable, maintainable, and high-performance mobile solutions
- Write clean, modular, testable, and production-grade code
- Drive technical discussions and make architectural decisions
- Collaborate closely with Product, Design, Backend, and QA teams for seamless execution
- Mentor and guide junior engineers (SDE-1 / SDE-2)
- Improve app performance, reliability, scalability, and security
- Lead code reviews and enforce engineering best practices
- Proactively identify and resolve performance bottlenecks and production issues
- Contribute to CI/CD improvements and release management
Required Skills & Qualifications:
Experience
- 69 years of strong hands-on Android development experience
- Proven experience building and scaling consumer-facing B2C applications
- Experience in product-based or high-growth startup environments preferred
- Prior experience handling large-scale apps with a significant user base is a plus
Technical Skills:
- Expert-level proficiency in Kotlin (Java knowledge expected)
- Deep understanding of Android SDK, app lifecycle, threading, and memory management
- Strong experience with modern Android architecture patterns (MVVM, Clean Architecture)
- Hands-on experience with Jetpack components, Coroutines, Flow, and Dependency Injection (Hilt/Dagger)
- Strong understanding of REST APIs, networking libraries, and third-party integrations
- Experience in performance tuning, crash analysis, and optimization
- Strong knowledge of unit testing, UI testing, and debugging tools
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and release management
- Understanding of modularization and scalable app architecture
