Junior Systems Administrator

Full-Time | Permanently On-Site

Position Overview

We are seeking a reliable and hands-on Junior Systems Administrator to support and maintain our Windows-based IT infrastructure in a fast-paced business environment. This role will serve as the primary on-site IT support resource, responsible for day-to-day user support, workstation setup, Active Directory administration, patch management, endpoint security, and operational IT maintenance.

The successful candidate will work closely with the Network Engineer for technical direction while independently managing daily support tasks, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring a stable, secure, and well-documented IT environment.

This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated IT professional with 1–3 years of experience looking to grow within systems administration and infrastructure support.

Key Responsibilities

Systems Administration & Infrastructure Support

  • Administer and support Windows Server 2019/2022 environments and Active Directory
  • Create, modify, disable, and maintain user accounts and permissions
  • Support Group Policy administration and user login environments
  • Execute user onboarding, offboarding, and workstation deployment processes
  • Configure and image new Windows 10/11 workstations and laptops
  • Maintain BitLocker disk encryption on company devices
  • Assist with SSL certificate renewals and replacements following documented procedures
  • Support MFA (Multi-Factor Authentication) enrollment and troubleshooting

End-User Technical Support

  • Provide hands-on support for Microsoft 365, Windows 10/11, printers, and connectivity issues
  • Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and basic networking problems
  • Act as the first point of contact for internal IT support requests
  • Escalate advanced technical issues appropriately to the Network Engineer

Patch Management & Endpoint Security

  • Execute scheduled Windows and software patching for workstations and servers
  • Deploy, monitor, and maintain antivirus and anti-malware protection
  • Verify successful installation of updates and security controls
  • Assist with vulnerability scanning and remediation activities

Documentation & Operational Support

  • Maintain accurate IT asset inventories and operational documentation
  • Update user account logs, patch records, and system runbooks
  • Follow established procedures and ensure compliance with internal IT standards
  • Support continuous improvement of IT operational processes

Required Qualifications

  • 3 years of hands-on IT support experience in a Windows business environment
  • Strong understanding of Active Directory and Windows Server administration
  • Experience supporting Microsoft 365 and Windows 10/11 environments
  • Experience setting up and imaging workstations independently
  • Familiarity with patch management and endpoint security practices
  • Basic networking knowledge including IP addressing, switches, and Wi-Fi troubleshooting
  • Strong troubleshooting and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently in an on-site support environment

Nice-to-Have Skills

  • Basic PowerShell scripting experience
  • Familiarity with Hyper-V virtualization environments
  • Exposure to vulnerability scanning tools such as Qualys or Tenable
  • Experience maintaining SSL certificates
  • Understanding of MFA technologies and security best practices

Preferred Certifications

  • CompTIA A+
  • CompTIA Network+
  • Microsoft MD-102 Endpoint Administrator
