We encourage interested candidates to apply promptly to ensure consideration.The Prince George’s County Office of Central Services is currently seeking qualified applicants to fill an Administrative Aide I/II (Administrative Aide 1G) position grade G13/15 in the Office of the Director.About the PositionThis is an entry to full performance secretarial/administrative position requiring the incumbent to perform routine to moderately difficult administrative work in support of the Deputy Director and the Office of the Director staff. Due to the nature of work, the incumbent is required to use good judgment and discretion which are essential to the security of confidential information and data. Work performance is evaluated in terms of accuracy and timely completion of projects and assignments.
Upon satisfactory completion of a probationary period, the entry-level incumbent will be non-competitively promoted to the Administrative Aide II full-performance level. About the AgencyThe Office of Central Services is a multifaceted agency of the Prince George’s County Government providing government-wide, mission critical support services in the areas of facilities operations and management, building design & construction, real estate services, fleet management, and general services. We make government operations operate better for the government.
- Performs highly responsible administrative duties in support of the Deputy Director; thereby relieving the Deputy Director of important administrative details.
- Maintain appointment calendar for the Deputy Director and professional staff when necessary.
- Takes and transcribes difficult dictation involving technical terminology, including correspondence, bulletins, reports, memoranda, speech drafts, and other material on general, special or technical subjects.
- Utilizes Microsoft Office Suites to compile data, type a variety of memoranda, letters, and reports, and spreadsheets from rough draft or general verbal instructions.
- Develops and maintains organized logs, records, and filing systems for reports, projects, and correspondence.
- Answers and records telephone inquiries and complaints, providing information or escalating as appropriate.
- Provides administrative support to the other Office of Central Services’ divisions as needed.
- Willingly and cooperatively performs tasks and duties which may not be specifically listed in the class specification or position description, but which are within the general occupational category and responsibility level typically associated with the employee’s class for work.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or G.E.D. certificate with coursework in typing, office practices or other related clerical subjects.
- One (1) year of advanced diverse and/or technical clerical experience which must have involved working with the public for at least six (6) months.
An equivalent combination of education, experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities may be considered.
Preferred Qualifications
- Good knowledge of applicable office procedures and recordkeeping practices.
- Proficiency in computerized information systems including Microsoft Office Suite, SharePoint and other relevant software.
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
- Ability to act independently, exercise sound judgment, and recognize when matters must be referred to their direct supervisor or division leadership.
- Ability to compile, review, and analyze written and numeric data for accuracy and completeness.
- Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with County staff and the public.

Conditions of Employment: Upon selection, the candidate must (where applicable):
- Pass an administered Administrative Aide exam. Applicants who have previously taken and passed the exam on or after 8/1/2024 will not be required to re-test. Previous passing test scores will be applied.
- Meet all training and performance standards and demonstrate proficiency as required by the agency.
- Wear and use agency protective apparel and equipment in the performance of their assigned duties.
- Successfully pass preemployment checks which may include reference checks, background investigations, and drug screenings.
- Be willing and able to serve as an essential employee. Essential employees are expected to report during standard or non-standard hours as operations necessitate, or during emergencies. Essential employees are expected to report or remain at work when other County employees are granted Administrative Leave.
