Point C is seeking a detail-oriented and highly motivated Staff Accountant to join our growing team. Reporting directly to the Controller, this role will serve as a key member of the Accounting Department and play an essential role in maintaining the integrity of financial records, supporting custodial account operations, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and internal controls.

The ideal candidate will possess a strong accounting foundation, exceptional attention to detail, and experience managing cash activity, reconciliations, and client or custodial accounts. This position requires the ability to analyze financial transactions, maintain accurate accounting records, and collaborate closely with operations, client service, and management teams.

Primary Responsibilities: 

  • Prepare monthly reconciliations and analysis of custodial accounts, ensuring accurate recording of client assets, cash transactions, deposits, withdrawals, transfers, and balances.
  • Monitor custodial account activity, investigating and resolving discrepancies or reconciling items in a timely manner.
  • Ensure all custodial transactions are properly documented, authorized, and recorded in accordance with company policy and regulatory requirements, supporting the safeguarding of client assets through strong internal controls.
  • Monitor aged receivables, communicate professionally with clients on outstanding balances, and support collection efforts while maintaining positive client relationships.
  • Manage daily cash receipts, deposits, and custodial transaction totals, maintaining accurate records of all custodial cash movement.
  • Prepare and record bank and cash reconciliation entries, ensuring timely reconciliation of revenue, receivables, and custodial cash balances.
  • Monitor cash activity, assist with treasury management functions, and promptly investigate unusual transactions or variances.
  • Participate in internal audits, compliance reviews, and process improvement initiatives to strengthen financial controls over custodial funds and client assets.
  • Partner with operations, client service, and management teams to resolve accounting issues and improve financial processes.
  • Identify opportunities to automate or streamline accounting and reconciliation procedures.
  • Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders, financial institutions, auditors, and external vendors.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.
  • 2+ years of accounting experience, preferably involving cash management, reconciliations, or custodial/client account administration.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and accounting principles.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail and commitment to maintaining confidential information.
  • Experience with general ledger accounting, account reconciliations, and financial reporting (preferred).
  • Strong understanding of cash reconciliation and treasury management activities (preferred).
  • Ability to work independently while contributing as a collaborative team member (preferred).
  • Experience working with custodial accounts, trust accounts, escrow accounts, client funds, or similar financial structures (preferred).
  • Knowledge of financial services, asset management, trust operations, or custody-related accounting practices (preferred).
  • Experience with Sage Intacct (preferred but not required).

 

Individual compensation will be commensurate with the candidate's experience and qualifications. Certain roles may be eligible for additional compensation, including bonuses, and merit increases. Additionally, certain roles have the opportunity to receive sales commissions that are based on the terms of the sales commission plan applicable to the role.
