Back-End Software Developer Jobs

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Back-End Software Developer to support mission-critical operations for the United States Air Force in San Antonio, TX. This role requires a TS/SCI clearance and offers the opportunity to contribute to national security through advanced software engineering and system integration. The ideal candidate will bring subject matter expertise in back-end development, cloud environments, and DevSecOps practices. You will be responsible for designing and developing scalable back-end architectures, RESTful APIs, and data models while supporting system integrations and process improvements. The position is remote with the requirement to be onsite for planning activities and client meetings with prior notice.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide subject matter expertise in support of Air Force software development tasks.
• Analyze, plan, and develop requirements documents and functional architectures.
• Design and implement back-end architectures to support new and existing system capabilities.
• Develop and maintain RESTful APIs and manage relational databases.
• Optimize data models and support integration of data across classification levels.
• Conduct and document system tests to ensure compliance with project standards.
• Collaborate in Agile development environments and contribute to CI/CD pipelines.
• Support DevSecOps practices and integrate with DoD-compliant toolchains.

Required Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience in software development and engineering.
• Bachelor's degree in a related field (Master's may substitute for 2 years of experience).
• Proficiency in object-oriented and scripted languages.
• Experience with DevSecOps, microservices, and containerization.
• 3+ years of experience with bug tracking tools (e.g., Jira), testing web-based applications, and back-end web design and development.
• 5+ years of experience with Jenkins and GitLab; and at least five of the following tools: NPM, Cypress.io, esbuild, Bun, Apache Tomcat, Maven, SonarQube.
• Demonstrated experience with relational databases, RESTful API development, AWS Infrastructure, Kubernetes, RedHat Linux, cloud-based development, and secure data integration.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Agile Test-Driven Development (TDD).
• Familiarity with DoD DevSecOps environments.
• 5+ years of experience with CI/CD software development.
• DevSecOps experience with at least five of the following tools: GitLab, Jenkins, SonarQube, Fortify, JUnit5, Ansible, esbuild.
