Telecommunications Field Technician

Our client is looking for a skilled and dedicated Telecommunications Field Technician to join their operations in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh . This hands-on role involves the installation, maintenance, and repair of telecommunications equipment and systems, ensuring reliable service for customers. The successful candidate will be comfortable working in various environments, troubleshooting technical issues, and adhering to safety protocols. This is an essential role for maintaining critical communication infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:

Install, configure, test, and maintain telecommunications equipment, including routers, switches, modems, and fiber optic cables. Perform diagnostics and troubleshoot network and connectivity issues for residential and business customers. Respond to service calls and resolve technical problems in a timely and efficient manner. Ensure proper grounding and bonding of telecommunications equipment. Lay and splice fiber optic cables, ensuring signal integrity and quality. Work with various tools and testing equipment, such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, and spectrum analyzers. Adhere to all safety regulations, company policies, and industry best practices. Document all service calls, repairs, and installations accurately in the company's system. Educate customers on the use of installed equipment and services. Collaborate with dispatch and support teams to ensure efficient service delivery. Maintain a clean and organized work vehicle and ensure all tools and equipment are in good working order. Stay updated on new telecommunications technologies and service offerings. Assist with the installation and maintenance of wireless network infrastructure. Perform routine maintenance checks on existing installations to prevent future issues. Handle customer complaints professionally and escalate complex issues as needed.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification in telecommunications or a related field is highly desirable. Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in telecommunications installation and maintenance. Proficiency in installing and troubleshooting various telecommunications systems (e.g., DSL, Cable, Fiber Optics, VoIP). Experience with common telecommunications tools and test equipment. Strong understanding of network cabling standards and best practices. Ability to read and interpret technical diagrams, blueprints, and manuals. Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently. Good communication and customer service skills. Valid driver's license with a clean driving record. Physical ability to climb ladders, work in confined spaces, and lift up to 50 pounds. Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as needed. Basic computer literacy for using diagnostic software and documenting work.
