Job Description

Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Agronomist to lead initiatives in sustainable farming practices at their operations near Indore, Madhya Pradesh, IN . This is a field-intensive role requiring hands-on involvement in agricultural research, development, and implementation. You will be responsible for advising on crop management, soil health, water conservation, and integrated pest management strategies to optimize yields while minimizing environmental impact. The Senior Agronomist will play a crucial role in developing and executing research trials, analyzing data, and translating findings into practical, farm-level recommendations. This position requires a strong scientific background combined with practical agricultural knowledge and excellent communication skills to effectively engage with farmers and stakeholders.

Key responsibilities include:

Developing and implementing crop management plans, focusing on sustainable and organic practices. Conducting soil and water analysis to assess fertility, health, and irrigation needs. Designing and managing field trials for new crop varieties, fertilizers, and pest control methods. Providing technical expertise and recommendations on disease and pest management, including integrated pest management (IPM) strategies. Monitoring crop health and growth, identifying potential issues, and proposing solutions. Educating farmers and agricultural staff on best practices in agronomy and sustainable agriculture. Collecting, analyzing, and interpreting agronomic data to improve farming techniques and outcomes. Staying updated on the latest advancements in agricultural science and technology. Collaborating with research institutions and agricultural organizations. Assisting in the development of farm-level sustainability metrics and reporting. Ensuring compliance with relevant environmental regulations and agricultural standards.

The ideal candidate will possess a Master's degree or Ph.D. in Agronomy, Soil Science, Crop Science, or a closely related agricultural field. A minimum of 6 years of practical experience in agronomy or crop production, with a strong emphasis on sustainable agriculture, is required. Proven experience in conducting field research and experimental design is essential. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and data interpretation skills are necessary. Strong communication and presentation skills are vital for effectively conveying technical information to diverse audiences. Knowledge of local soil types, climate conditions, and common crop varieties in the region is highly advantageous. Familiarity with agricultural software and data management tools is desirable.
