Senior Agronomist - Precision Agriculture

A leading agricultural technology company focused on sustainable farming practices is seeking a Senior Agronomist with expertise in Precision Agriculture to join their team in Durham, North Carolina . This role is vital for advising growers on implementing advanced technologies and data-driven strategies to optimize crop yields, resource management, and environmental sustainability. The position requires on-site engagement with clients and agricultural sites. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of agronomy, soil science, crop physiology, and the application of digital tools in modern farming.

Responsibilities

Provide expert agronomic advice and technical support to growers on best practices for crop production. Develop and implement precision agriculture strategies, including variable rate application, GPS guidance, soil sampling, and remote sensing. Analyze field data, including soil tests, yield maps, and weather patterns, to provide actionable recommendations to farmers. Educate growers on the use of farm management software and data analytics tools. Conduct field trials and research to evaluate new products, technologies, and farming techniques. Monitor crop health and identify potential issues, recommending timely and effective solutions. Stay current with advancements in agronomy, agricultural technology, and sustainable farming practices. Collaborate with sales, research, and product development teams to ensure alignment and effective customer support. Prepare technical reports, presentations, and training materials for growers and internal teams. Contribute to the development of new products and services related to precision agriculture. Qualifications:

Master's degree or Ph.D. in Agronomy, Soil Science, Crop Science, or a related agricultural field. Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in agronomy, with a significant focus on precision agriculture technologies and practices. Strong understanding of crop physiology, soil fertility, pest management, and integrated crop management systems. Proficiency with farm management software, GIS, and data analysis tools relevant to precision agriculture. Excellent communication, presentation, and client relationship management skills. Ability to conduct fieldwork in various weather conditions and travel within the assigned territory. A passion for sustainable agriculture and leveraging technology to improve farming outcomes.
