Our client is seeking a dedicated Senior Agronomist with a focus on Sustainable Farming practices to join their team in Washington, D.C., US . This role involves providing expert advice and implementing cutting-edge agricultural techniques to enhance crop yields, soil health, and environmental sustainability. You will work closely with farmers, researchers, and stakeholders to promote best practices in modern agriculture. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of crop science, soil management, and innovative farming technologies.

Responsibilities: Develop and implement comprehensive agronomic plans for various crops. Conduct soil testing and analysis to determine nutrient needs and recommend fertilization strategies. Advise farmers on pest and disease management, including integrated pest management (IPM) techniques. Promote and implement sustainable farming practices such as crop rotation, cover cropping, and water conservation. Research and evaluate new crop varieties, seeds, and agricultural technologies. Monitor crop growth and health, identifying issues and proposing solutions. Develop strategies for improving soil health, structure, and fertility. Educate farmers and agricultural professionals on best practices and new research findings. Collaborate with research institutions and government agencies on agricultural initiatives. Analyze field trial data and provide recommendations for yield improvement. Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and sustainable agriculture standards. Develop training materials and conduct workshops for agricultural communities. Stay abreast of the latest developments in agronomy, plant science, and sustainable agriculture. Assist in the development of proposals for agricultural projects and grants. Contribute to the development of innovative solutions for agricultural challenges. Qualifications: Master's or Ph.D. in Agronomy, Soil Science, Crop Science, or a related agricultural field. Minimum of 5 years of experience in agronomy or agricultural science, with a strong focus on sustainable practices. In-depth knowledge of crop physiology, soil science, and plant nutrition. Proven experience in developing and implementing sustainable farming techniques. Familiarity with soil testing methodologies and interpretation of results. Experience with pest and disease management strategies. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and research skills. Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously. Proficiency in agricultural software and data analysis tools. Understanding of agricultural policy and environmental regulations. Experience in field research and data collection. A passion for advancing sustainable agriculture and food security.
