Operations Manager - Logistics & Warehousing

As an Operations Manager for our client, a leading third-party logistics provider, you will play a critical role in overseeing a high-volume distribution center. Your main responsibilities will include managing day-to-day warehouse operations, developing operational strategies for efficiency, leading and developing a team of warehouse associates, ensuring safety and quality standards, implementing warehouse management systems, managing vendor relationships, monitoring key performance indicators, identifying process improvement opportunities, overseeing budget management, collaborating with transportation teams, and maintaining a clean and secure warehouse environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage day-to-day warehouse operations, including receiving, put-away, picking, packing, and shipping of goods.
• Develop and implement operational strategies to optimize inventory accuracy, throughput, and on-time delivery.
• Lead, train, and develop a team of warehouse associates and supervisors to foster a high-performance culture.
• Ensure strict adherence to safety regulations, quality standards, and operational procedures within the warehouse.
• Implement and utilize warehouse management systems (WMS) to enhance efficiency and data accuracy.
• Manage vendor relationships and negotiate service agreements for equipment and supplies.
• Develop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) such as order accuracy, on-time shipping, labor productivity, and inventory turns.
• Identify opportunities for process improvement and implement cost-saving initiatives.
• Oversee budget management for the warehouse operations, including labor, supplies, and equipment.
• Collaborate with transportation teams to ensure seamless inbound and outbound logistics.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and secure warehouse environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in warehouse operations management, preferably in a fast-paced distribution environment.
• Proven experience with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and other relevant logistics software.
• Strong understanding of lean principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
• Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to manage, motivate, and develop staff.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
• Proficiency in budgeting and financial management.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with all levels of the organization.
• Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices in warehousing.
• Flexibility to work varied shifts as operational demands require.
