Media Relations Specialist

Our client is looking for a dynamic and experienced Media Relations Specialist to join their vibrant communications team in Gatineau, Quebec, CA . This role is critical in managing and enhancing the organization's public image and media presence across various platforms. You will be at the forefront of developing and executing strategic communication plans, building strong relationships with journalists and media outlets, and crafting compelling press materials.

Key responsibilities include monitoring media coverage, identifying opportunities for positive press, and responding to media inquiries promptly and effectively. You will be responsible for writing and editing press releases, media advisories, speeches, and other communication content. Proactive media outreach and pitching stories to relevant journalists will be a significant part of your role. You will also assist in preparing spokespersons for media interviews and managing crisis communications when necessary. This position requires a keen understanding of the media landscape, exceptional writing skills, and a proactive attitude. You will work collaboratively with internal stakeholders to ensure consistent messaging and alignment with organizational goals. The ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines is essential.

Qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field. A minimum of 5 years of experience in media relations or public relations, preferably within a corporate or agency setting. Proven ability to build and maintain strong relationships with local, national, and international media. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a demonstrated talent for crafting persuasive and engaging content. Experience in developing and implementing successful media campaigns. Knowledge of social media platforms and digital communication strategies is a plus. Strong organizational skills and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment. Fluency in both English and French is highly desirable for this role. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker with a creative approach to public relations.
