THIS IS A GRANT FUNDED POSITION.
The successful candidate will work as a Community & Workforce Specialist by communicating with employers who would like to post jobs, helping to create job postings to share to jobseekers by email, webpage and in resource rooms. The employee will also assist in hosting recruitment events and job fairs. Additional duties will include providing receptionist/administrative assistant support and assisting customers at both the front reception and the resource rooms/computer rooms at Pima County One-Stop locations.
Community & Workforce Development Department works with vulnerable populations and minors. A Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card, a Criminal History Self Disclosure Affidavit, and a Central Registry background check are requirements for employment.
Essential Functions:
As defined under the Americans with Disabilities Act, this classification may include any of the following tasks, knowledge, skills, and other characteristics. Participates in the day-to-day operational and support activities of a functional program or work unit within the Community & Workforce Development Department;
Provides direct services urgently and compassionately to Community & Workforce Development clients, which may include working with clients via phone, email, online, or in person;
Assesses the needs of community members and provides guidance on appropriate resources based on individual needs;
Matches qualified candidates with resources, coaching, or support related to employment, education, or financial assistance;
Represents the program or work unit at community events and in meetings with County personnel and/or community partners;
Provides administrative and other support essential to the completion of program or work unit objectives;
Communicates with and participates in program activities in coordination with other County departments and community partners;
Provides input to management in the development of program goals and objectives;
Manages and maintains records of program participants and their progress;
Responsible for other duties as assigned in support of the overall goals and functions of both the Community & Workforce Development Department and Pima County.
Minimum Qualifications:
Associate’s degree from an accredited college, university or technical school in management, public or business administration or a field related as determined by the department head at the time of recruitment.
(Relevant experience and/or education from an accredited college or university may be substituted.)
OR:
One year of experience with Pima County as a Community & Workforce Technician I or II or similar Pima County position, as determined by the department head at the time of recruitment.

Preferred Qualifications: (Be specific in describing your experience in your application. Ensure the descriptions provided illustrate your competencies, specifically addressing the required and preferred qualifications.):
Minimum six (6) months experience working with job seekers helping with employment services, support services, and community resources.
Minimum six (6) months experience in a social services setting helping customers.
Minimum one (1) year experience in a customer service desk environment or customer service-related field.
Minimum one (1) year experience using Microsoft Word and Excel.
Bilingual (English/Spanish).
Selection Procedure:
Pima County Human Resources Department reserves the right to admit to the selection process only those candidates that meet the minimum qualifications. All applications will be assessed based on an evaluation of the listed education and experience. Candidates meeting the minimum qualifications may be further evaluated/scored against any advertised Preferred Qualifications. The hiring authority will interview and select the successful candidate from a referral list provided by Human Resources. Additional assessments/testing may be required as part of the selection process.
Supplemental Information:
Licenses and Certificates: Valid driver license is required at time of application. Valid AZ driver license is required at time of appointment. The successful applicant will be subject to a 39-month DOT Motor Vehicle Record review to determine applicant’s suitability to operate county vehicles in accordance with Pima County administrative procedures. Failure to obtain and maintain the required licenses and certifications shall be grounds for termination. Any offer of employment resulting from this recruitment is contingent upon Fleet Services’ review and approval of the candidate’s driving record.
Special Notice Items: The County requires pre-employment background checks. Successful candidates will receive a post-offer, pre-employment background screening to include verification of work history, education, and criminal conviction history. A prior criminal conviction will not automatically disqualify a candidate from employment with the County. Some positions may require completion of a satisfactory personal background investigation by the court or law enforcement agencies, due to the need for access to County Attorney and Court facilities, records, and communication systems.
Physical/Sensory Requirements: Physical and sensory abilities will be determined by position. Action Activity - bending, climbing, kneeling, reaching, squatting, stooping; Motion Activity - grasping; Hearing Activity - behind themselves; Speaking Activity - in person and on the phone; Vision - operate motor vehicle, may be required to operate forklift or power industrial equipment; have depth perception; have peripheral vision.
Working Conditions: Working conditions will be determined by the position.
