Product Development Engineer (Mechanical)

Location: Toronto, ON (On-site)

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver mechanical design work on schedule and within budget, managing priorities effectively
  • Develop engineering designs in accordance with internal procedures, industry regulations, and client standards
  • Support product development through all stages, including prototyping, testing, and installation
  • Evaluate mechanical and electromechanical systems using principles of mechanics, thermodynamics, heat transfer, hydraulics, and materials science
  • Design and execute feasibility studies, testing methods, and validation processes
  • Create and refine prototypes, fixtures, and jigs with a hands-on approach
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to translate customer requirements into manufacturable product designs
  • Develop and optimize manufacturing and assembly processes, including equipment design and modification
  • Ensure product and system quality through testing, validation, and continuous improvement
  • Prepare technical documentation and reports, analyzing data and performance trends
  • Maintain engineering databases and documentation systems
  • Provide technical support during fabrication, construction, and installation phases

Qualifications & Experience

  • Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in mechanical design within an industrial or manufacturing environment
  • Proficiency in CAD tools such as SolidWorks and AutoCAD
  • Experience with MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, MS Project) and engineering databases
  • Exposure to electrical or automation drafting is considered an asset
  • Strong technical writing and documentation skills
  • Hands-on experience with prototyping, fixtures, jigs, and installation support
